About me
I am a UKCP Registered Clinical Psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and counselling in Derby, with face-to-face therapy available from my private therapy room in Mickleover, Derby. I also offer online psychotherapy and online counselling for adults across the UK.
If you are looking for a psychotherapist, counsellor or therapist in Derby, you may be wondering what therapy with me is actually like. People sometimes imagine psychotherapy as quite formal, with a therapist sitting quietly and saying very little. That is not how I work. My approach is warm, relational and down to earth. I will listen carefully, but I will also ask questions, respond to you and share what I am noticing when I think it may help us understand what is happening for you.
I work with adults in Derby and online who are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, OCD, relationship difficulties, attachment issues, grief, trauma, stress and periods where life simply feels overwhelming or difficult to make sense of. You may be struggling with relationships, repeating the same patterns, feeling disconnected from yourself or finding that you understand why you behave in certain ways but still cannot seem to change them.
Relationships and attachment are a particular area of interest for me. In psychotherapy, we can explore why certain people or situations affect you so deeply, why particular relationship patterns keep repeating and how your earlier experiences may still influence the way you relate to yourself and other people today.
I also have a particular interest in ADHD and neurodivergence and offer ADHD-informed and neurodivergence-informed psychotherapy in Derby and online. This can include exploring the emotional and relational impact of growing up feeling different, misunderstood, overly sensitive or as though you were somehow getting things wrong. Therapy can help you understand how these experiences have shaped your self-esteem, relationships, emotional responses and sense of who you are.
As an integrative psychotherapist in Derby, I draw on a range of psychotherapy approaches including attachment theory, relational psychotherapy, developmental psychotherapy and humanistic approaches. This means our work can be shaped around you, your history, your relationships and what you need from therapy.
There is room in therapy with me for anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, painful feelings, uncertainty and experiences that can be difficult to understand or put into words. There is also room for humour and curiosity.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have particular therapeutic interests in ADHD and neurodivergence, including rejection sensitivity (RSD), emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties and the impact of masking or feeling different.
I am also especially interested in limerence, attachment and recurring relationship patterns, including the intensity, uncertainty and preoccupation that can sometimes develop around particular relationships.
Other areas of interest include trauma and the continuing effects of difficult early experiences, men’s mental health and the emotional difficulties that can arise during pregnancy, following birth and during the transition into parenthood.

Further information
I understand that contacting a therapist can feel like quite a big step, especially if you have never had therapy before. I offer an initial free consultation so that you can ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy and to help you get a sense of whether working together feels right.
