About me

I understand there are many reasons you might be looking for help from psychotherapy or counselling. You may be struggling with a relationship, with your partner, family, or friends, or be unhappy with how you feel about yourself, struggling with low self-esteem, your identity, or your behaviour. Perhaps you’ve suffered the loss of a loved one and are grieving, or you’ve experienced a crisis or some traumatic event at some point in your life that you’re struggling to live with now. Maybe you’re feeling unhappy with where you are in life and need help to find direction and figure out where you want to be.  It’s possible more than one of these things are happening for you at the moment.

Psychotherapy can support you with any of these challenges.

I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process in a safe, accepting space. I offer counselling and psychotherapy in a non-judgmental, highly confidential environment where you’ll be fully supported in exploring your challenges at your own pace. We’ll work together to develop your understanding of what’s happening for you and why, then find ways to help you cope with things from your past or to change how you deal with relationships or challenges now. Or together we’ll help you to develop new meaning and clarity about who you are and what you want from your life.

I believe your choice of therapist is the most important decision you make once you’ve decided to seek help, so it’s critical to find someone who is right for you. To help you decide, I offer a free 20-minute phone call or Zoom call to discuss what’s happening for you and how I might be able to help, so you can decide if you feel comfortable with me before you start.

I work both online on Zoom and face to face, in person at my practice in Chiswick, W4.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training is in Integrative Psychotherapy, and I have an MSc from Metanoia Institute in London.

This means I can work in different ways depending on your situation and what you need and can draw on different approaches to help you. To help me do this, I’ll initially focus on listening to you to understand what’s going on for you, to know how I might best support you. Our first couple of sessions will usually involve you sharing some of your history, describing your important relationships, and any significant events you feel are important or related to the challenges that brought you to get help.

We’ll work together to develop a strong relationship where you feel safe and trusting so you’re able to share anything you need to, knowing that you'll be heard and understood. Sometimes, just having a place and time that’s only for you and about you, with someone who listens and cares, can be really powerful. Other times, you might need me to help with figuring out what you're experiencing and why, or to challenge your thinking and help you develop new ideas. Always, you’ll have the continuity of me being there for you every week, to listen to anything you need to share without judgment, and to help you work through whatever you need to deal with.

For those who have an interest in schools of therapy or modalities I use, my practice is founded on relational, intersubjective psychotherapy at its core and is informed by attachment theory in understanding how your early childhood experiences with parents and other significant carers affect how you develop relationships later in life. I work with self psychology to understand how your sense of self and your identity develop in childhood and beyond, and how this is influenced by and influences your early relationships. I also use existential psychotherapy models to understand how you develop meaning in your life or the struggles you might have with this. I focus both on the impact of your past childhood experiences on your life today, as well as focus on what’s happening for you now, using our relationship and how we experience each other help us understand how you develop and maintain relationships in the rest of your life.

Before training as a therapist, I had over 30 years’ experience in business, so I understand the challenges you can face in highly pressured work environments and the challenges from balancing your personal life with a demanding job.

I am a full clinical psychotherapist member of the UKCP, and abide by their code of ethics.
