About me
Hello, my name is Dafiny Alves. I am a mixed-race, Brazilian, neurodivergent Integrative Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, and Life Coach. I am also a certified Anxiety—and Trauma-informed practitioner and a member of the BACP and NCPS. I have vast experience counselling neurodivergent young people and young adults who are beginning to explore their neurodivergence, navigate the pre-diagnosis journey, or embrace a new sense of self. I am here to support you in making sense of it all in your own way and at your own pace.
What I can help you with:
Are you struggling with:
1. Anxiety
2. intrusive thoughts/ negative thoughts/ OCD
3. Overthinking
4. Panic attacks
5. Insomnia and worry
6. Do you think you have ADHD or autism, and you do not know how to make sense of this?
7. Has it been a struggle to start conversations or go out and meet new people?
8. Do you wonder if there’s something wrong with you, as you always think you upset people because of your behaviour?
9. Do you have thoughts that keep going on and on …. in an exhausting loop in your head?
10. You don’t like or trust yourself constantly second-guessing yourself
As a neurodivergent and culturally affirmative therapist, I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals of all neurodiverse backgrounds. My approach is rooted in understanding and affirming the unique experiences, strengths, and challenges that come with neurodivergence. I believe in the importance of embracing individuality and fostering self-acceptance.
I love what I do and find it extremely gratifying to work with young adults, as I learn so much from them. I don’t believe therapy is magic, but it is powerful and somewhat magical when I see my clients becoming more confident and compassionate towards themselves in the sessions and slowly seeing the changes they were looking for when they began therapy. (Therapy works, I have seen it working.)
As I mentioned, I am neurodivergent. This means that if you identify as neurodivergent as well, we will likely connect on a deeper level, as I have noticed this positive dynamic with many of my past and present clients.
Things to know about me: Others experience me as quirky or peculiar, and I am funny (I was also told I have an accent). I am easy to talk with, and I don’t judge. Ah! I am not the greatest with numbers because of my dyscalculia, but I get there eventually.
Problems I work with:
Anxiety
Intrusive thoughts
Negative thoughts
OCD
Worries, overthinking, rumination
Suicidal thoughts
Self-harm
Depression
Low -self-esteem
Obsessive thoughts
If you resonate with any of these challenges, I would love to work with you. Together, we can explore your experiences and work towards finding the relief and understanding you deserve.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information
People often ask me how my sessions look like and if I verbalise my thoughts in the sessions or just sit in silence nodding , if you are wondering this as well the answer is : Yes! I will be honest, reflective, open and curious in our work.
As I am a creative person In my sessions we can use a range of techniques such as: grounding, mindfulness, breathing exercises, psychoeducation, solution focus exercises (CBT), with my younger clients we can play games, do some role play, drawing, crafts, use blobs/ feelings cards, videos or music; etc as long as you are comfortable to use them, as the base of my work is client -centred - I strongly believe that You know what is best for you even if right now you do not feel that you do.
