About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor based in Bristol offering face-to-face,  Zoom and telephone sessions. I also work for Cardiff Mind three days a week.  I provide friendly individual counselling to adults. I am MNCS Accredited and I hold an NCS accredited Foundation Degree in Counselling from the University of Plymouth I offer a confidential service within the ethical framework set out by the NCS. I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate. I’ll combine person-centred, humanistic, psychoanalytic, existential and artistic therapeutic approaches to support you and help you to turn things around.

It’s when you sense, or realise, that things can’t remain the same and yet you feel frozen, unable to act, and you don’t know what to do. A personal crisis might leave you feeling powerless and anxious. Then you find that the ways in which you generally deal with problems aren’t working: the people you’d usually turn to for support – your partner, family, friends, colleagues – can’t give you what you need, despite their best intentions; they might be too involved with the issues you’re facing. You might also experience a deterioration in your physical and mental health. It’s not uncommon to feel anxious, depressed or emotionally fragile. This is when counselling can help. As your counsellor, my role isn’t to offer advice or to tell you what to do, but to help you find clarity about why you’re experiencing this ‘frozen’ feeling, and how to uncover new ways of living. I’ll provide a safe space in which to find, explore and understand new ways of dealing with the issues or problems you’re facing. I also offer a specialist counselling service for writers and artists engaging with personal experience through their work. It might be the specific issues you’re exploring that you want to bring to counselling; it might be the feelings your current work is giving rise to now; or how people you know, including those your work may be about, might react, should they read or see your work. Equally, it might be the relationship between your actual experience and the writing or art you produce. You may want to consider how you exercise self-care whilst engaging with these experiences. It could even be a combination of any or all of the above, or, of course, something else entirely.
