Psychotherapeutic Counsellor MBACP, MNCPS (Accred) BA (Hons)

About me

Many of my clients grew up feeling unseen or unheard - carrying childhood wounds, family dysfunction, or old patterns that still shape their lives today. Whatever issue has brought you to search for a therapist, I believe the heart of therapy is the relationship itself. When you feel truly seen and accepted, something shifts - old patterns soften, trust grows, and real change becomes possible.

I offer psychotherapeutic counselling to adults in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. My style is down-to-earth, compassionate, and gently challenging. I use Transactional Analysis as my core approach, through a trauma-informed lens, to help clients make sense of the patterns that shape their lives - and to find freedom to choose differently.

My practice is based in the centre of Hebden Bridge at Sanctuary Therapy Centre, 36 Market St, Hebden Bridge HX7 6AA.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Certificate in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (level 5) from The South Manchester Centre for Psychotherapy (four year training programme).
  • Certificate in Working with Trauma from The Link Centre.
  • BA (Hons) in History from Nottingham University.

I have over 10 years experience working with mental health, through my role as a mentor for young men with the men's charity ABandOfBrothers. I have been in private practice for over 3 years.

BACP

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
