About me

Welcome!

A bit about me,

I like to think that my therapy style is warm and interactive. I can offer tools to help with a number of different issues, such as, anxiety and panic, low self-esteem, overthinking.

I am mindful that not one size fits all and will always strive to help you find the right fit for you.

I have experience working in private practise, at a GP surgery, and a school. I offer face to face, online, and telephone consultations.  I have worked with organizations such as Time to Talk Youth Counselling Service and The Fire Fighters Charity.

The First Session,

Don't worry if you haven't had counselling before and feel a bit unsure about how things work. Try to think of it as a safe space to just talk and explore whatever you need to in the moment. I am happy to answer any questions you might have by email or call, so do reach out and ask.

The first session will be more of a meet and greet process to explore your needs and wants from the counselling. A chance to meet each other so you can decide whether you would like to work with me.

Remote counselling,

I work from my office which is a private confidential space. I send out an invite via email for online sessions. When doing a telephone session, I will call you at an agreed time from my office phone.

One to one session,

My office has a lounge area with two comfy sofas to create a nice relaxing environment to talk.

Contact details,

If you feel that I might be the right fit for what you're looking for then you can reach out to arrange a session by email, phone, or through my website, using the contact details on my profile.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Client Reviews

These are a few of many positive reviews from clients I have worked with. Keeping in mind that some people's experience of receiving therapy might be different.

Written by J. After therapy on issues concerning depression, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, grief, self-esteem, and coping with life changes.

"Lovely counsellor who supports me very well".

Written by M.I on issues concerning family conflicts.

"Cheryl has been a great listener throughout our therapy sessions. She gave me the space to talk, get emotional, and was supportive. I feel like a new person at the end of our group of sessions, thank you".

Written by B.E. On issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, and grief.

"Cheryl has been a great listener during our sessions and has provided eye opening insights based on the few appointments we've had. All the while being a beacon of hope and light for me when things feel hopeless and dark".

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
