About me

Let’s be honest, finding therapy that feels the right fit can be a difficult task and my aim is to guide you through this process. Hi, I’m Charlotte and I am a qualified creative psychotherapist and supervisor in West Yorkshire (HCPC/BADth) with over 9 years of experience in delivering therapy to children, young people and adults to support their journey to healing.

Life can throw many challenges at us, but we are all human and sometimes need help along the way. I am passionate about creating an open and trusting space, where people feel comfortable and empowered to bring what is troubling them, without fear of judgment.

Dramatherapy is an integrative and relational psychotherapy, and flexible in its approach by using both talk-based methods and practical techniques derived from the creative arts.
You may be reading this wondering if Dramatherapy is for you… or perhaps you feel it’s time to try a new approach? Or experience a different way of thinking?

Our minds can often protect us from issues and experiences that may feel too painful to cope with directly, by storing them in our subconscious. The option of using of creative and action-based methods in Dramatherapy provides a safe distance to explore ourselves and understand more about the impact of our life experiences, so that we may rehearse for change.

No previous experience of therapy or Dramatherapy is required, it really is inclusive and accessible to all.

This means sessions are completely tailored to you, your needs and what you feel interested in trying out, without the pressure of always having to find the words.

People turn to therapy for many different reasons, and I have had the privilege of supporting individuals facing a wide range of difficulties. If you feel interested in understanding more about how I may be able to support you, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Master of Arts in Dramatherapy and I am registered under HCPC and BADth. I maintain a high standard of professional conduct and work to all codes of ethics andproficiency. I believe we are continuously learning and so regularly seek opportunities to expand my knowledge and understanding of those I support by attending additional courses and training.

I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, sixth forms, day centres for adults with disabilities and latterly the NHS. My experience has led me to work with a diverse range of difficulties such as anxiety, stress and depression, working through the challenges that relationships bring, supporting survivors of abuse, and navigating the complexities of trauma. My most recent work has been with the looked-after and adopted community, to provide individual and group therapy, alongside therapeutic parenting/carer sessions where I specialise in attachment and developmental trauma.

In addition to this, I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor, training with the respected Jenny Biancardi in 2022 and hold a certificate in Creative Supervision (UKCP). My approach to supervision is person-centred and provides the benefit of being able to bring in creative methods to facilitate reflection on clinical work. I have experience supervising professionals from a range of backgrounds in both individual and group settings.
