About me

Feeling low, distressed or finding it difficult to cope on a day-to-day basis? Then counselling may be able to help.

Counselling is an opportunity to talk in complete confidence about whatever is on your mind with someone who is experienced in how our thoughts about our experiences affect our feelings and behaviours.  Together we can form a clear understanding of your situation and help you process your thoughts and move forward with your life in a positive way.

I treat all my clients with respect, care and compassion. I appreciate it can be very nerve wracking coming to counselling and I will do my best to put you at ease. I integrate Person Centred and Psychodynamic counselling approaches.  This means I will listen and try to understand things from your point of view.  I will not tell you what to do but help you to find your own solutions to whatever challenges you're facing. Together we can gain insight into the reasons behind any problems you're dealing with and build strong inner resources to move forwards.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) and am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I adhere to the BACP ethical framework to ensure I work safely and in the interests of my clients at all times.

As a fully qualified counsellor with experience in a wide variety of issues I have helped people experiencing anxiety, bereavement and loss, confidence issues, depression, difficulties coping with everyday life, panic attacks, personal development, relationship issues, unresolved childhood difficulties, self-esteem issues, self-harm or suicidal thoughts, and trauma and PTSD issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
