About me

Hi, my name is Brian.

I am an integrative counsellor which means that I am trained to use a number of counselling approaches and skills in my counselling work.

Major theories I have studied include humanistic counselling which aims to enhance and bring about increased self awareness and direction for clients helping them to acheive their full potential; behavioural counselling which aims to help clients become aware of unhelpful, negative and damaging thought patterns, and pysychodynamic counselling which helps clients to look at their past when this is impacting  the present, one example perhaps being experience of trauma as well as use of harmful defence mechanisms such as denial that the trauma actually occured.

My goal as a counsellor is to engender hope where this may be lacking and for us to work together without judgement and within a confidential environment. We can explore the origins of  current problems and look at introducing strategies that will make constructive changes, helping overcome issues you may be dealing with, such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • Grief & bereavement
  • Anger management
  • Relationship problems
  • Self-harming
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Etc....

If you are feeling a sense of hopelessness, despair, or if you are feeling stuck, unsure and unable to move forward with your life, whatever your problem may be, I would encourage you to reach out and begin the process of healing.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me about any aspect of counselling, then please  e-mail  me  and I will get back to you or If you would prefer to speak to me, then please phone my counselling contact number;  077 688 75 682 between 5:00.pm and 6:30.pm, Monday - Friday, and I will hopefully be free to speak to you. If I am not available, please leave your  a short message and I will get back to you.

Just also to advise, there is on-site parking available outside my counselling practice.

I am trained and qualified to counsel adults, and children and young people from age 11 and older.

I have had a long career working with adults who have a learning disability, autism and ADHD, as well as adults with a physical disability.  Counselling can be particularly effective in helping such clients come to terms with and gain an acceptance of their disability.

If you would like to book a counselling session, then please email me or altrnatively you can phone my counselling number to arrange an appointment.

You may also find of interest one of the articles that I have written and posted within my profile. These examine topics including anxiety, school life and the problems young people can face, loss and grief, and grief practices within other cultures. You can access these by scrolling down to the articles section below and clicking on the article that interests you. I hope you will find these interesting and of help.

Finally, don't forget to check out my brief introduction video by clicking on my profile picture above. (My dog is called Bailey by the way and he video bombed the recording session!).

Thank you for viewing my counselling profile.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
