About us
Arise Counselling Service is an independent Christian charity born out of the vision of local churches. We affirm the dignity of each individual and believe that all people should have the chance to find hope and experience lives of purpose and meaning. We believe that therapeutic counselling provides one opportunity to gain these qualities more fully.
All the counsellors working with Arise Counselling Service have a Christian faith and agree with the Evangelical Alliance statement of faith. However, it is not the purpose of Arise Counselling Service to advance, teach or promote the Christian faith. We provide counselling to people of all faiths, or people with none.
There are many reasons why you may be seeking a counsellor right now: you may be feeling low or overwhelmed, facing relationship difficulties at home or work, processing a loss or a recent past trauma. Counselling offers an opportunity to talk with a caring professional, who can listen without bias or judgement. Our counsellors are trained in a range of counselling approaches and are able to work with you through a wide-range of issues (please see our website for more details).
It is our aim to provide affordable counselling to the local community, and therefore, we do not have set fees for our sessions. If you are wanting to pursue having counselling with Arise, we will arrange a free initial telephone assessment whereby an affordable fee will be agreed.
We offer sessions in person, online, and by telephone to teenagers (16+), adults and couples. Our sessions take place on a weekly basis and are 50 minutes long.
Our in person sessions take place at the Jubilee Community Centre in East Grinstead with free parking and good access to train and local bus services.
If you would like to find out more, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and/or set up your telephone assessment to get you started on your counselling journey.
Training, qualifications & experience
All of our counsellors are required to be members of national professional counselling bodies such as British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) or Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC), and are also required to have monthly supervision to ensure their work is overseen by a qualified supervisor to maintain excellent standards of care.

Where possible, we ask that a fee of £35 per session is made, in order to cover our costs. However, clients generally pay anywhere between £15-£60 per session, depending on what is affordable for them. Counselling fees are agreed during the free initial assessment phone call with one of our referral team. Lower fees can also be agreed in some circumstances.
