About me

Hello and welcome. My name is Amanda. EMDR Trauma informed Therapist. I specialise in helping people heal and recover from bad experiences.

Are you ready to put yourself first and make a positive change to your life?

Maybe you want to get things off your chest, lighten the load, stuff you’re unable to talk to loved ones about? Or although life can appear good and mostly good , you experience emotional turmoil that brings waves of feeling sad, happy, overwhelmed, underwhelmed with life challenges.

I am a fully qualified, accredited and experienced humanistic integrative online therapist. I am EMDR accredited Therapist .I have taken specialist training in working with trauma. Also a mindfulness coach.

Life can be a complicated story; it can bring challenges both from the past and the present.

You may be feeling stuck at a crossroads, not sure where to go but are motivated to move forward.  My goal is to support you to move forward in a positive healthy way, to bring relief and help you feel better and be in more control over your life.

How I work

By talking through, exploring your thoughts, behaviours and feelings, you can discover blocks, underline issues, and get a better sense of self, as well as discovering strategies, new ways to cope and manage better.

I can provide a place where you can feel cared for and offer you the time and space to feel safe to open up without fear of being judged. No matter what you are going through or how you identify, you are welcome to my service and support.

Type of Therapy

EMDR, EMDR  intensives and Talk therapy, or combination of all

I may integrate creativity, mindfulness, psychodynamic ideas and EMDR. (Eye movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy). EMDR is an NHS recommended evidence-based treatment effective in treating, troubling and disturbing memories in the past. EMDR is one of my go to interventions because the long lasting results are amazing.

How EMDR can help

  • Healing from trauma, such as PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) symptom.
  • Addressing distressing life experiences beyond trauma, like anxiety, depression, or phobias.
  • Coping with grief and bereavement, helping individuals process the emotions and memories associated with loss.
  • Challenging and restructuring negative thought patterns, helping individuals develop more adaptive ways of thinking.
  • Increasing self-confidence and self-worth, empowering individuals to recognize and cultivate their strengths and abilities.
  • You do not have to go into detail about the bad experience of what happened to you for it to work.

I am committed to working in a relational way, getting to know you so I can understand your story and help you understand your story, your needs, your wants and your aspirations.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside my private practice, I work as a trauma specialist therapist for a charity working with women and girls who have experienced sexual, assault/violence, childhood sexual abuse, childhood abuse and domestic violence.

I also provide EMDR Treatment for PTSD symptoms, with NHS clients through the Xlya digital therapies service. Here I provided short term work. presenting  issues such as, complex Bereavement, Anxiety and Depression.

Flash Technique for distressing memories

I am IFS / ego states informed and I am trained to use the Flash Technique (FT). FT is a safe and less intrusive effect way for helping my clients process unresolved trauma related disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
