About me

20 years experience working with the public and I understand the importance of having their needs met.

17 years ago I began to work with children and as I progressed in this area of my profession I began to gain an in-depth interest in the importance of children's mental well-being as being equally as important as their physical well-being. Given the right systematic and collaborative support from parents, families, teachers and peers, children have a better opportunity to grow into a grounded resilient adults.

This then brought about a deep curiosity within me with regards to adults also being supported through childhood adversity that has impinged their growth and thus affected their well-being.

This prompted me to follow my career in retraining as a therapeutic counsellor. I believe that the person-centred approach provides a safe platform with acceptance being genuine, empathetic and warm, while holding an approach of unconditional regard can support many adults to begin a new chapter of self growth which will strengthen their self esteem and ability to self manage.

I understand the importance of connection in a non-judgmental approach, this is key to building and maintaining a therapeutic alliance, I offer an initial first session to discuss means of working together, to build rapport and connection and to understand if the person feels a therapeutic connection. If the person is happy with what they experience in an initial first session we will then make an agreement of time and frequency etc to move forward with the therapeutic process.
