Terri Windsor BSc(Hons)Psych. AdvDipCouns. MBACP(Accred)
As a qualified and experienced counsellor of over twelve years, and in my fifth year of psychotherapy training, I provide a professional and supportive environment in which we can explore your concerns and work towards lasting change.
You may be experiencing a particular difficulty such as -
- anxiety and panic
- stress at work
- relationship difficulties
- fertility issues
- trauma in childhood that impacts you now
- feeling overwhelmed
- or a general dissatisfaction with how things are for you - knowing that you want things to be different but are not sure how.
My approach is a holistic and integrated one which recognises the importance of body as well as mind processes. We all are born with the capacity to live satisfying lives, but through our interaction with others we learn to modify ourselves. We can lose touch with who we are and how we feel. We can become stuck in fixed patterns and beliefs about ourselves that get in the way of our relationship with self and others.
I work at your pace, supporting you to come to a greater awareness of yourself, whilst being gently challenging. Through our dialogue new possibilities can emerge, enabling you to make different choices about how you choose to live your life.
I work with individuals, offering both short-term counselling and longer term therapy, depending on what you are looking for from our work together.
What to do next
If you would like to enquire further please send me an email or give me a call. I do prefer to talk to you directly before arranging a first appointment and will usually call you back by the next working day.
It is important that you choose someone you feel comfortable with. Our first appointment will give you the chance to meet me and to see if what I have to offer is right for you and for me to understand what you want to get out of therapy. We may agree to continue and arrange regular weekly appointments. Or you may like time to think about it and contact me again later.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been working in private practice for eight years offering both short term counselling and longer term therapy. I also continue to work part-time within the NHS, offering time-limited counselling to people experiencing depression and anxiety.
Previously I had six years experience of working within an agency offering both open-ended therapy and short term work. I specialised here in working with addiction, particularly alcohol.
I have worked with bereaved children and adults as a volunteer in a bereavement service, where I also trained volunteers to work with children. I have also given telephone support to Naval Personnel and their families.
