About me

I offer therapy either in-person, by phone or video (Zoom) to U.K. residents.

As a qualified, registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I offer weekly short term (12 sessions) and long term (open ended) psychodynamic counselling & psychotherapy to individuals.

I am also a qualified, registered Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist. I use an Integrative model (incorporating different methods) for people experiencing sexual and/or relationship difficulties. I offer this weekly to individuals or couples, either short term (12 sessions) or long term (open ended). Some of the psychosexual difficulties I work with include: no, low, or high desire; orgasmic difficulties; erection difficulties; ejaculation difficulties; pain during sexual intercourse; difficulties with penetration. For a more comprehensive list, please see my website.

To arrange an initial session, please contact me saying which type of therapy you are interested in i.e. psychodynamic counselling/psychotherapy or psychosexual and/or relationship therapy and how you would like me to contact you. I will usually reply within 24hrs.

We will need to briefly talk over the phone to discuss your reasons for starting therapy, if you haven't already stated this, whether online, phone or in-person and how to proceed. We will then arrange an initial date and time for the first session.

Afterwards, I will write to or email you confirming the details of the initial session.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My professional career started by training and qualifying, in 1989, as a Registered General Nurse within the NHS. I initially worked in general medicine and later specialised in cardio-thoracic medicine. In 1992 I further specialised in sexual health, where I continue to work part-time.

My psychotherapy career started by successfully completing a "Certificate in Counselling Skills and Attitudes" (WPF Counselling) in 1995 followed by a "Diploma in Counselling Skills - Access" (WPF Counselling) in 1996.

I trained for four years at WPF Therapy (London) and qualified as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist in 2008, having successfully completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Studies/WPF Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.

After qualifying, I worked as an Honorary Psychodynamic Psychotherapist at WPF Therapy (London) until I started working in private practice.

I also trained for four years on the "London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy" and am a qualified Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist. As part of this, I see both individuals and couples.

I am a Registered Member MBACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), The FPC (The Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling and I am also a Registered Member of COSRT (College of Sexual & Relationship Therapists) and abide by the COSRT Code of Ethics and Practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

COSRT
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)

COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.

All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Are you struggling emotionally and psychologically? Are you grieving the loss of someone or a relationship? Are you feeling down, depressed or overwhelmed? Do you keep repeating the same patterns of destructive behaviour and want to understand why and change your behaviour?

Talking in therapy about your present and past, including exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, can help you to understand yourself more fully and increase your awareness of the choices you have in making changes.

Are you having difficulties with sex and/or relationships? Are you constantly arguing with or feeling emotionally distant from your partner? Has your sex life deteriorated or are you feeling dissatisfied with your sex life?

Talking about and exploring your relationships and/or sexual difficulties in therapy, can help you understand yourself more fully and increase your awareness of what may be contributing to the difficulties. I may also give you some practical exercises to do at home, which may also improve communication, intimacy and sexual functioning, leading to a more fulfilling sex life and/or relationship.
