About me

I am a Chartered Psychologist and a Clinical Psychologist who worked in the NHS for 23 years since qualifying  in 1998. I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care and Professions Council,  a member of the EMDR Association UK and the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science. I am a fully trained EMDR Therapist. I have extensive experience of working with adults experiencing psychological difficulties including addictions, phobias, anxiety, work related stress, dealing with changes in physical health, depression, grief and loss, anger and trauma. I have a particular interest in working with clients presenting with work related stress and anxiety.

If you wish to contact me we can then have a brief telephone conversation when you will have the opportunity to tell me a little about yourself, your difficulties and what you are hoping for from therapy. You will then get a sense of whether you feel I am the right therapist for you and I will be able to assess if I can meet your needs. That being the case a suitable session time will then be negotiated with you and will last an hour. Sessions are usually offered weekly, but this can also be negotiated. Following the assessment process I will aim to offer an intervention/treatment suited to your needs. This may include approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). This will be decided in collaboration with you.

Further information

Entering therapy can feel like a big step to take. I aim to offer an open, non judgemental approach and a private space to look at your difficulties with you. This will be undertaken in a professional but warm and compassionate manner. I practice in a lovely setting in Penkridge near Stafford, which is easily accessible from the M6, has plenty of parking available and a therapy room on the ground floor. Sessions last an hour. I aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible as I recognise that initial sessions can be daunting. However, hopefully you will soon find that you are pleased that you have entered into your therapy journey with me. Please get in touch for further information. I always reply to emails so please check your junk mail if you do not hear from me as a number of clients have said my reply has landed in their junk folder.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

My practice room and toilet facilities are based on a ground floor with good wheelchair access and free parking directly outside.
