Profile
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist and have 7 years practice in counselling individuals and couples for issues such as relationships, addiction, bereavement, abuse, anger, depression, anxiety and stress.
I am a qualified intercultural integrative counsellor. This means I use different theoretical approaches and I also bear in mind the differences (in cultural background, age, gender, etc) between us and how this may impact on our counselling relationship.
The main approaches I use are psychodynamic, where we look at how current issues are influenced by past experiences; person-centred, where we look at the difficulties you are having in your life at present; and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) where I use techniques to tackle issues such as depression and anxiety.
I am a member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and of LTF (The London Therapeutic Foundation). I adhere to their strict ethical framework and code of practice.
I am a trained Drug and Alcohol Counsellor and I have worked for Drug and Alcohol Services for 6 years from a busy GP surgery in London.
I am also a trained Samaritans Counsellor and worked with Samaritans for over a year supporting and containing callers with chronic depression and suicidal feeling.
I have worked for 2 years with a London wide charity for HIV positive sufferers. Alongside this work I have completed Level 2 Certificate as a Health Worker.
For 1 year I have worked as a Counselling Supervisor for an international charity that assists people in distress. My job is to supervise other counsellors' work with their clients.
