About me

Hi, my name is Nicole.  I guess you are thinking about counselling / psychotherapy? Daunting prospect? It doesn't have to be if you find the right counsellor/therapist.  Feel free to give me a ring for a chat...

A little background information about me: Well, my experience allows me to work with individuals, offering a safe place to explore what’s going on for you. By drawing on several therapeutic techniques/theories, together we can help you find new ways to live your life, with the aim of increasing and improving your personal growth and well-being. I work holistically taking into account your mind, body, spirit and your environment ... the whole you. I will be guided by you. We will go at your pace.

I am based in Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield with ample off-road parking whilst on route for public transport.

I work face to face in a comfortable setting along with online and telephone calls.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience:

My ‘helping’ work began in 1998 when I began my studies for a Social Work degree and then 14 years working for the Probation Service.  I worked (and continue to work) with a variety of issues involving substance abuse, self-harm and suicide, domestic / sexual abuse (victims and perpetrators), child protection and poverty.   Working for various charitable organisations and in my own private practice has afforded me valuable experience in working with children and young people, individuals and couples again with a wide range of differing issues involving depression and anxiety, low self-esteem and self-worth, loss and bereavement, guilt and shame, confidence issues, relationship issues, rape and sexual abuse, miscarriage and post natal depression.

Professional Qualifications include:

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Holistic and Integrative Psychotherapy
  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Life Long Learning Certificate in Loss and Bereavement
  • BA (Hons) Degree in Social Work

Further Experience:

  • Counsellor - St Giles Hospice - Loss & Bereavement (children, young people and adults)
  • Counsellor - Sarac (Sexual Abuse, Rape, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Exploitation)
  • Child Bereavement - Support Group Facilitator - St Giles Hospice
  • Child Bereavement Camp - Facilitator - Newark Child Bereavement Centre

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
