About me

I am a HCPC and BPS registered Chartered Psychologist and psychotherapist with over two decades of experience in diverse settings across Australia, the UK, and Denmark. Throughout my career I have worked in private practice, government organisations, the NHS, and specialist trauma treatment centres.

In 2011, I established my private practice in London, and have since worked with clients from many different walks of life, addressing a wide range of psychological difficulties.

Searching for the right therapist can sometimes feel daunting. As can starting the process of psychotherapy. I offer a warm, confidential, and honest space to speak about what changes you are hoping for. It is important to me that you feel able to ask any questions you have about how psychotherapy works, both when you reach out to me initially and as our work progresses.

In my practice I see:

Individuals, couples, and groups.

Offering:

  • Psychotherapy
  • Assessments
  • Crisis intervention
  • Supervision
  • Training and leadership coaching

Reasons why people seek out psychotherapy:

Many people seek out psychological therapy when they experience feelings of being “stuck” or find themselves in a personal crisis. You might be searching for a safe and supportive space to explore how to lead a more fulfilling life or to discuss events that are challenging to share with others but are also difficult to navigate on your own.

People can find therapy helpful in overcoming many different kinds of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Bereavement
  • Meaninglessness in life or a desire for personal growth
  • Fertility issues, pregnancy, and birth reactions
  • Substance misuse problems
  • History of sexual abuse
  • Stress management
  • Workplace-related issues
  • Eating disorders
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Questions about identity or gender
  • as well as childhood and adult experiences of neglect and/or trauma

I offer both long and shorter-term psychological therapy. When you contact me, I usually suggest we meet for an initial consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. This initial meeting will also allow us both to get a sense of whether we would work well together. During the initial consultation, we may outline a plan for your therapy, or we might need further sessions to gain a deeper understanding of your needs and to determine the best course of action.

In shorter-term work we may set a certain number of sessions, and focus on a specific concern, or on unpacking general anxieties. In longer-term therapy we can work open-ended, or to a more defined contract, exploring underlying or deeper-rooted challenges.

My approach to psychotherapy:

Over the past 20 years, I have worked with a diverse range of individuals from various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds, each presenting with a wide range of conditions, challenges, symptoms, and diagnoses. What this experience has taught me is that there is no one size fits all method for therapeutic work. Every person is an individual and needs a tailored approach to get to the bottom of their particular concerns. In my experience, psychotherapy works best when it is fitted to the individual and when there is a good match between the client and therapist.

My approach to psychological therapy is integrative, meaning that I have developed a personal framework that draws on different therapeutic perspectives and models, paying attention to both the influence of your past and your current circumstances. The relationship we establish in our therapy is fundamental to our work and can offer important insights into other relationships in your life.

I work with flexibility and believe in us collaboratively developing a therapeutic plan that best supports you as an individual. I am trained in a range of models that I can draw from where appropriate, including Psychodynamic approaches, Mentalization-based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Emotion Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Person Centred Therapy and new-wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) such as a mindfulness-based approaches.

To have a conversation about setting up sessions, feel free to get in touch. We can have an initial phone call to talk through your needs.

Please note: I only offer online sessions via an encrypted platform. Telephone sessions can also be arranged. I do not offer face-to-face sessions.

I am registered with AXA PPP and Aviva private health insurance.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Additionally, I am a member of the Danish Psychological Society (Dansk Psykolog Forening).

My educational journey includes completing a bachelor’s degree in Australia, followed by a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy in London, UK. During my training to become a psychologist, I have achieved both a doctoral research degree and completed a specialisation as a psychotherapist.

I have always worked alongside my training, integrating learning into practice. My educational journey has involved long-term personal therapy and closely supervised practice with experienced senior colleagues, which has been crucial to my development.

I place a strong emphasis on both my personal and professional growth and have actively participated in numerous trainings over the years. Additionally, I have attended various personal development workshops, including Family Constellation Therapy, Circling, and authentic relating groups, among others. I regularly engage with several supervisors to discuss my clinical work, and I participate in a professional peer group consisting of other psychologists specialising in psychotherapy. In this group, we discuss topics related to our work, with an emphasis on our continuous growth and development as professionals.
