Whether you are a young person or an adult, looking for a counsellor can be a daunting process....
You may be here because you have hit a crisis point or you might have been trying to cope alone for some time with problems such as depression and anxiety, stress, relationship breakdown or abuse. It may be that you just have a sense of not quite reaching your potential. Whatever the reason, counselling can provide you with a confidential and supportive professional relationship from which you can make sense of what's going on and move forward.
Having awareness of how difficulties and sticking points develop and repeat can provide you with the option to make more considered and informed choices. As an outcome you can learn to recognise when your basic needs are compromised, you can explore healthy expression, gain control and also find the courage to make change - if that is the best course of action.
Whether you want to look at a specific recurring problem or have a more general sense of dissatisfaction, taking the time to think about yourself and develop is a rewarding experience
I am an experienced, fully insured and practising registered member of the BACP, British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I abide by the BACP's ethical framework which means that I will work always to promote your wellbeing and best interests.
I offer counselling in Horsham from my private practice which is a short walk from the town centre and linked by rail to Crawley, Redhill, Croydon, London Bridge, Billingshurst, Arundel and Bognor Regis.
If you are travelling by car the A24 and A23 are close by giving access to Storrington, Steyning, Shoreham, Worthing, Brighton, Burgess Hill and Dorking.

Areas of Specialism
I have experience of providing time limited (8 - 12 sessions) counselling for young people aged 14 - 25 years at a youth centre based in East Surrey. Referrals into this service were from the YMCA, CAMHS, pastoral care and youth workers. For a young person in Horsham or surrounding areas I can offer a confidential safe space that is separate from school, social media and their friendship group. Some of the issues I work with here are bullying, self harm, depression/low mood and self esteem.
If you are struggling to manage addiction I can work with you at any stage of your journey. From the starting point of uncertainty at the idea of making a change to staying in touch with the desire and reasons to keep going. I have completed a 2 year clinical placement with a substance misuse agency providing 1:1 counselling and also facilitating group therapy for SMART (self management & recovery training) from NHS premises based in Dorking.
Between 2018/2020 I trained and provided counselling sessions using the empowerment model at a Rape Crisis Centre for survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse. My work is trauma informed and I provide a safe space for you to begin to understand the impact that this can have on your life - for example high levels of anxiety, addiction, eating disorders and self harm can be seen as ways to self manage when there is no other choice.
Between 2012 and 2021 I worked within a psychodynamic counselling and clinical training placement centre for students. I provided open ended therapy sessions and initial assessment reports for clients of all ages coming to the service via self referral, GP's and Community Mental Health Services.
I am currently working in private practice and continuing professional development at the moment studying courses to provide a clinical service provision for people on the autism spectrum and with ADHD.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
