About me

Ready to discover a freshfocus? I am an experienced Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and offer a safe space to get to the heart of the matters that are most important to you. Whether you are looking for young people, adult or couple therapy, parent support or qualified professional supervision, this service will provide you with the opportunity to address your concerns, gain clarity,  heal painful feelings, discover helpful strategies and move forward.

Counselling

Has your life or relationship(s) become stuck or out of your control?

Are you confused, angry, anxious, depressed?

Is your past getting in the way of you enjoying life now?

Are you suffering with trauma related symptoms?

Would you like to improve your resilience, confidence or self-esteem?

Want to reclaim your life?

Everybody is unique and how we cope with difficulties is individual to us and our circumstances. Often our mental, emotional and physical health or spiritual well-being can be seriously affected. When we have tried, tried and tried again, it could be time to try something different? Ready to make changes but not sure how?

With over 20 year's experience and an integrative approach that is client centred, I can utilise different theoretical styles, that will best suit your needs and personality.

Contact freshfocus today, for a no obligation chat to see how counselling could work for you.

Parent Support

Is your family in up-roar half the time?

Is your family going through separation and impacting on how you communicate?

Are you a single parent and struggling to manage everything?

Are you concerned about your child’s behaviour, mood or mental health and not sure how to manage it?

Is the responsibility in your household shared fairly?

Who’s in charge?

It can be very difficult to discuss or address concerns about your family for yourself, with your partner or ex, or with your children and other family members.

freshfocus offers experienced understanding with advice, information, and supportive counselling to parents, grandparents, kin-carers or foster carers and young people.

This can be arranged on a one to one basis or as family mediation, or a mix of both.
Common issues include:

  • Boundary setting
  • Effective communication
  • Separation or divorce
  • Dealing with self-harm of all kinds
  • Discovering identity and diversity
  • Adjusting to life stages
  • Freedom and responsibilities
  • Trust, reward and consequences
  • Parenting together

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist and professionally qualified in 2002. I gained my CPCAB Accreditation in 2016. I work with both adults - individual, couples and parents and young people. (2018 - CPCAB Level 5 in Young Peoples' Counselling 11+ and Accredited AFT Foundation Certificate in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice in 2009). I am also a CPCAB Level 6 qualified Supervisor. (see Supervisor's Profile.)

I have 20years extensive experience in working with clients in managing their personal issues, relationships, responsibilities and lives. I have undertaken many training courses, which include areas such as addictions; attachment and child development; bereavement; mental health issues, including anxiety and depression; trauma, abuse and symptomatic effects, such as Post Traumatic Stress and dissociation, for example.

I provide a safe, private space, with a down to earth approach, supporting clients to work through their issues and help them find resolutions or ways better ways of managing them.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Advanced Integrative Therapy ( https://ait.institute/ait-info ) is an approach that deals with the suffering that we experience in the here and now, energetically. A process that aims to take the charge and discomfort out of our bodies (heart and mind), that have been caused by either a recent or past trauma.

Working with our electro-magnetic field, along with our energy centres and using simple but accurate statements, we can remove unconscious and conscious painful thoughts, feelings, sensations and intolerant reactions that are triggered and associated with our issues.

It is simple but profound.
