Karyn Scott - Mindhealth Counselling (CBT) Lisburn

Mindhealth Counselling is conveniently located in Hillsborough, a 20 minute drive from Belfast and Banbridge and 10 minutes from Lisburn City centre. Karyn provides results based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of emotional, psychological and behavioural difficulties.

Karyn offers a private, confidential and non-judgemental environment where clients can discuss their concerns and difficulties with a professional and fully qualified counsellor.

Karyn is specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and is fully trained to work with a wide range of issues and disorders.

Anyone can benefit from CBT. I work with adolescents (15-18 years) and Adults (18 +) and with both individuals and couples. CBT has been proven to be highly effective in the treatement of a range of disorders including:

Karyn has worked for many years helping individuals who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or anxiety and who experience emotional, psychological or behavioural difficulties. She has worked in a wide variety of settings from GP surgeries, Health and Social Care Trusts to private and community settings.  She has treated many patients for a wide range of disorders including: depression, anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), childhood sexual abuse, eating disorders, low self esteem, anger and relationship difficulties.

Karyn has been a CBT course trainer and supervisor on both Post-graduate and Certificate Courses in Cognitive Therapy and has delivered CBT based Stress Control courses for HSCNI - Belfast Trust.  She also has experience of working with individuals using Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) which has been endorsed  by NICE as a highly effective form of Relapse Prevention in the treatment of Depression.

Karyn is a fully registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adheres to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. In adhering to these guidelines, Karyn receives regular supervision in order to maintain best practice.

Fees are charged on an hourly basis and due at the end of each session.

  • Assessment session (60 mins): £45 (This is the first session and will assess your current difficulties along with your suitability for CBT)
  • Single session (50-60 mins): £45
  • Block bookings : Block booking of 6 sessions £240; block booking of 10 sessions £380 (fees must be paid in advance to qualify for discounted rate)
  • Couple counselling: £60 per couple per session. (please note that couples attend separately initially then both attend together).
  • Cancellations: As time is allocated from our diary which could have been given to another client cancellations are charged at £20 if less than 24 hours notice is given.

Fees are reduced for students and the unemployed please contact regarding this.

Our aim is to make counselling available to all so if you feel that you really need help but find the fees prohibitive please contact us to discuss this.
