About me

I offer counselling to individuals - where you can explore in a non judgmental and safe environment whatever is troubling you. Sometimes problems can be difficult to solve on your own, but working through these issues within a caring and confidential space you are able to voice your fears, face your anxieties and feel emotionally supported. This type of acceptance helps you find greater understanding and helps you to move forward confidently. Giving yourself the space to identify what triggers uncomfortable feelings and what influences your behaviour can be life changing. Giving yourself this time helps you to become more grounded, to be able to think more clearly and increases your ability to find solutions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified humanistic integrative counsellor. The humanistic aspect relates to the model of psychotherapy studied. The various styles of counselling are effectively frameworks for emotional development and health. Humanistic counselling is concerned with helping you to become more whole, integrating all aspects of yourself, some of which may be suppressed or inhibited as a result of your life experiences.

As a Humanistic Integrative therapist I am able to integrate tools and ideas from different models of psychotherapy ie. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), TA (Transactional Analysis) etc. This means the counselling fits you instead of you fitting the counselling style.

My core training is shown below, however I attend regular continued professional development to enhance my own personal and professional growth and attend regular supervision in accordance with the requirements of BACP Accreditation.

2003 - Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling
2004 - Certificate in Advanced Professional Studies - Counselling
2005 - Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling
2005 - Post Graduate Diploma - Counselling Studies (PG Dip)
2010 - Accreditation by British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist
2013 - Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner Training

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
