About me

Counsel UK - Helping The UK Feel Better...

A very warm welcome to my site.

Within my work, my clients are at the heart of the work and I use a relational based talking approach. This relationship offers respect, understanding, acceptance and care.

As an Accredited and Registered Member of BACP, my work is representative of the high quality standards, ethics and professionalism as set out by the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk).
Specialising in working with Young People, holding twenty four years of experience of working with clients aged 11 to 25 years. with over ten years of experience of being a Secondary School Counsellor in several schools and counselling research projects.

Additionally, I hold extensive experience working with Adult clients, on a wide range of difficulties. I am committed to helping people with their mental health, wellbeing and reducing distress, shame and embarrassment.

Please get in touch with me to discuss any problem you require help . I will help put you at ease and I am deeply respectful of peoples' difficulties, whatever they may be.
Anxiety difficulties, relationship issues, stress, depression or bereavement, self esteem, confidence building, feeling lost? These are just a few of the issues that come into Counselling and Psychotherapy. Through working through things together, this eases the distress through a safe space to talk, being heard and understood.

As we know people are affected in unique ways and this is due to everyone being different. I am concerned with how things affect you and how you would like things to be different.
During our first appointment, an assessment will be part of our consultation to ensure that my services meet your requirements and that we can work together.

I offer both long and short term work, tailor made to each persons' requirements, as everyone is different. I work in a Integrative Way, valuing the person at the heart of the work.
I hold an Enhanced CRB check (April 2017) and I am fully insured.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Testimonials By Recent Clients

“Jane is a great counsellor and a true professional. Specially grounded in empathy, respect and congruence. A great person to with work short or long term, I would highly recommend Jane".

"When I first thought of seeing a counsellor, I was a unsure if it would help me. I never really knew how much my issues had affected my life. In my first meeting with Jane I felt totally at ease and wondered what I was really worrying about. I think my worrying was not of meeting a counsellor, however more of disclosing my issues with someone who I did not know. Jane showed me how to look at my life, easing out my issues by helping me confront them head on, in a manner which I now use today. Confidentiality is paramount to Jane and I always felt comfortable disclosing my issues with Jane's warm and engaging manner. If it was not for Jane I would not have moved forward in my life. I am truly grateful for having Jane as my counsellor as I am sure many others are". (D.A - Derby).

"It has been a pleasure to work with Jane, for me to gain knowledge and understanding of my personal issues. I have really appreciated my time with Jane and I really like who I am now going forward in my life". (L.W - Nottingham).
