About me
Sometimes it helps to be heard and seen by someone who is not directly involved and who can be with us in our distress whatever it is, someone who can shed some light on what is going on without being directive. You may be bringing something that has happened a long time ago, but which still affects you, or something from your recent past you are struggling to deal with on your own. Whatever it is, I offer a safe, supportive and accepting environment where we can explore your feelings and work with the issues in question. Although I do not offer solutions as such, I will help you to increase your self-awareness and develop your inner resources to enable you to move forward in life. I am familiar with theory and make use of therapeutic tools in my work, but believe that the counselling relationship is what ultimately makes the difference.
I offer an initial assessment session free of charge which is an opportunity for you to find out how I work and ask any questions. If you decide to go ahead, I will also take a brief personal history and agree on any goals you wish to work towards. I will endeavour to meet you at a time that is convenient for you, both daytime and evenings.
My counselling training has been humanistic and integrative and I adhere to the ethical guidelines laid down by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Furthermore, and in line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), I commit to keeping your personal data securely and purely for counselling purposes.

I have been seeing clients for many years, at first in local placements offering low-cost counselling and then also in private practice. I now work exclusively from my therapy room in Broadmayne which is located approximately four miles from Dorchester.
My work is influenced by my own life experience as well as my formal training which I continuously further by attending workshops on a variety of relevant topics. I feel fully committed to my work as a counsellor and look forward to hearing from you.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
