Elaine Jenkins MBACP
We all have needs - that is a given. We all have an innate need to be authentic, genuine or real - to be who we truly are. But often, the conditions in which we have grown up and learned how to survive in have not always, for some reason, allowed for our needs to be met, on many levels. Life throws many challenges our way, some which bring joy and some which bring pain, and we develop ways of reacting and coping. But when our reactions and ability to cope become out of balance, fear generally takes over and usually manifests as anger, withdrawal, depression, anxiety and many other forms of mental distress.
This is where good counselling can help. I offer integrative counselling, which by use of different theoretical models, can help to unpack and explore the multi layers that have been developed to protect yourself in order to cope and survive situations previously experienced. Self worth, or self esteem is at the core of who we are, and is home to your strength centre, the natural place where your inner resources and ability to 'feel good' lay. By tapping into your inner resources, new patterns of coping can be developed, bringing a greater sense of well being.
Building rapport and offering a comfortable environment in an atmosphere of being listened to and understood; of confidentiality and not feeling judged or disempowered in any way and feeling respected; These are the conditions which I offer. The journey may feel challenging, but this will be the process - your process.
It takes courage to make the first contact but once you have taken this step, it can be the best gift you could ever have given yourself. I can be contacted by telephone or email for an initial discussion and to make an appointment.

I have qualified with a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, which is an eclectic mix of different theories so that I can draw on them to provide you with a much deeper awareness and understanding of yourself, your patterns and your ways of relating.
