About me

Hi, my name is Denise. If you are looking for a counsellor then I guess you are presently finding yourself struggling with confused, mixed, painful feelings that events in life have left you with. These feelings may be making you feel sad, alone and in need of some understanding, support and guidance. I am a qualified counsellor with over 10 years experience in helping individuals with relationship difficulties, depression, anger, fear, grief, family problems and many other issues.
I consider myself to be warm and approachable and will not judge you. My aim is to help you to understand your feelings, manage your difficulties, and give you the strength and ability to move on.

I offer long and short term counselling (you may only require a few sessions). I see most of my clients in my private home where I encourage them to take time out and just be themselves. Also, if you find it too difficult to leave your home I will consider home visits.

What Is Counselling?

Discussing confusing thoughts and feelings may be difficult with family and friends and many people fear going to counselling as they are unsure about what it entails. All of us at times struggle with life's demands, relationship difficulties or the loss or change of something important to you can leave you feeling alone and isolated.
I am an experienced, qualified counsellor and will provide empathy and understanding in a safe non-judgemental environment. Together we will explore your issues and concerns in the strictest confidence. You will be listened to and supported with the aim of giving you understanding, self awareness and the ability to face future events that life brings.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

I offer both long and short-term counselling according to your wants and needs. You may feel comfortable with just a couple of sessions. It is however important to remember that counselling is about you and you are in control and free to stop whenever you wish.

I worked for Women's Aid, Northampton, counselling clients in refuge mainly suffering from physical, mental and sexual abuse. The issues presented included low self-esteem, depression, substance abuse and suicidal tendencies.

My time as a counsellor at Y.I.S, Milton Keynes, gave me experience counselling 14-25 year old adolescents through the difficulties that can overwhelm them at this particular age. At Y.I.S issues were presented such as Education & Career pressures, confusion over sexuality, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, substance abuse and self harm.
