Dee Gregoriou (Cert, Integ, Dip. Couns.MBACP)
We are all affected by some form of Mental Health distress or distressing circumstances at some point in our lives; for those who claim they have not, they are indeed unusual or extremely lucky. In the UK it is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week have experienced a common Mental Health problem such as Depression and Anxiety.
Welcome....Whether you have come across this page by chance, or intentionally searched this out, I would like to welcome you to my Counselling and Psychotherapy Page. As you read on, I hope the information you find will be useful in helping you decide if Counselling is for you.
Reaching Out....I understand how difficult it is for any of us when we are in need of help; how hard it can be to make that first phone call, especially if you are feeling down or blaming yourself for some reason. You might be wondering if it will be worth the effort, or that things really aren't 'that bad'.
You're already there.... If you are reading this line, you have already taken that first step in making an important and courageous decision for you and your life. Whatever your circumstances, exploring your story can help you understand more about yourself, your circumstances and bring opportunities for change. This is a wonderful thing. My aim is to help you do this.
You and Counselling......You may be here because you are interested in talking through problems or issues in your life which may be causing distress or confusion. You may have thoughts or feelings which you cannot understand and impact your ability to be fully present in life.
Support.....Sometimes when we do need to talk, we can turn to friends or family for support; in some cases, though, difficulties or pain can overwhelm us, and it may be helpful to speak to someone impartial. I offer a comfortable, private and confidential service in a quiet room face to face.
Whether its for you or someone you care about, please do contact me for a free initial chat where we can discuss your concerns and your hopes for counselling. This is without any obligation. I can be contacted via email or by phone.
What to Expect....If you are happy to continue we will meet face to face and talk about Confidentiality, cancellations, times and dates. I will invite you to give me some background information and whatever you feel would be useful for me to know. We would agree on a series of sessions depending on what feels right for you and your circumstances. Sessions are on a weekly basis for fifty minutes.
I generally do not give advice, nor tell you what to do but I can invite you to find your own insight and understanding of your problems in an objective and supportive way.
How long....clients often wonder how long therapy can take; of course, this always depends on your individual circumstances. As a therapist, I offer short term contracts (6-8 sessions) and longer term contracts, which would be agreed with you depending on your needs.
Me.....I have always been curious about people, personal stories, and how we have come to be all that we are; for better or worse. My philosophy is that the past need not repeat; we can change our story and learn to engage in life from a place of worthiness and wellbeing.
Letting go of who we think we are supposed to be and accepting that we are all made of strength and struggle.
Whether you decide to contact me or another Counsellor, I sincerely hope your find the support you are looking for. Do take care of yourself.
