Counsellor Profile

I have helped many individuals and couples along the road to recovering a more satisfying way of living since qualifying as a counsellor twelve years ago.
I am an integrated therapist, which means I draw on a variety of approaches in my work sourcing the most effective therapy for you. The sessions are geared to the changes you want to make in your life, in ways that work for you.

I offer short and long-term, face to face counselling according to the B.A.C.P code of ethics, of which I am a registered member.

Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk about how you feel and to become clearer about what is troubling you and spoiling your life.
Our lives are full of change and usually we take these in our stride. However, there may be times when situations or events overwhelm us and we can't cope or work out how to move forward. These can cause sleepless nights, loss of appetite, lack of concentration and even flashbacks from a bad experience in the past.

Day-to-day pressures, problems at work, fear of redundancy, difficult relationships can all cause stress.
You may be aware that you're not living to your full potential at home or at work.
Maybe you have come to a crossroads in life and have no idea which way to turn.
I believe we all have internal resources.
In counselling I would help you discover these and enable you to move forward.

Friends and family may want to help, but talking to someone who is not involved and also trained to give effective support is often preferable.
Together we can find ways to make a difference, so you can move from a difficult, dark place to a brighter and more fulfilling future.

Comments from previous clients:
"I don't know how it happened, but I feel so much better and am actually enjoying my job."
(A client's remark after five sessions.)
"Counselling has helped me get my life back. I'm wondering why I didn't try it before and waited forty years before I sought help" (This was said after 4 sessions.)
"It's so nice not to feel sad all the time." (A comment made after 6 sessions.)
"It's such a relief to feel normal again" (Said after 10 sessions)

Please contact me for a free telephone consultation. The first session gives you the opportunity to see whether counselling suits you.

As a qualified and experienced Supervisor I offer supervision for trainees and newly qualified counsellors.

My approach is person-centred, but my training and experience enable me to supervise those who practise an alternative model. We will work together to ensure the development of your counselling practice.
Comment from one of my supervisees: I found the experience of supervision to be particularly empowering as Rosemary offers praise and encouragement.

I am on the approved list of Supervisors for Hull University, York St. John's, Grimsby Institute and Hull College.

My experience in private practice, within the Youth Counselling unit in Hull, a Health Centre and a voluntary organization treating traumatized clients have given me an understanding of the wide range of issues people face in today's world. This included supervising volunteers who were supporting clients, who were suffering the effects of serious crime. I now have a thriving private practice.
