Life is meaningful - welcome to the journey
The essence of therapy is the development of a relationship based on trust, empathy, respect and authenticity. Meeting in a place of safety allows us to explore feelings and emotions that are difficult to face alone or discuss with friends and family. In an atmosphere of acceptance and trust we can explore patterns of behaviour that cause distress and anxiety. Talking about experiences and the emotions behind them allows understanding of ourselves and our relationships. As we become more aware of ourselves we are no longer driven by habits that are damaging but able to choose healthier ways of dealing with life's challenges.
Over the many years I have been practising as a counsellor and psychotherapist in North London, I have helped clients with a variety of troubles. Some of the diverse issues clients have brought to their sessions with me include:
- Low self esteem
- Eating disorders
- Relationship difficulties
- Family conflict
- Alcohol dependency
No matter what background or personal beliefs you have, I am here to provide a confidential and supportive service for all my clients. Above all, I am committed to working respectfully and sensitively with you.
My therapeutic approach is to support you in bringing about positive changes in areas of your life where you feel compromised or unfulfilled – whether in your relationship with yourself or with others. Creating a better relationship with the self is a first step in healing relationships with others. This can involve getting in touch with and understanding feelings and experiences of which you may be unaware.
My approach is integrative, allowing me to work with each person according to their individual needs and inclinations. I help you find ways of understanding yourself, make choices and develop your confidence in resolving difficulties, becoming more aligned with your life journey.
Measurable outcomes may include
- increased self awareness
- a realistic sense of how you are seen by others
- insight into the origins of emotional difficulties
- increased capacity to integrate feelings and actions
- heightened spiritual awareness
One way to connect with unconscious processes is through exploring dreams. With those open to these techniques, I may use creative practices such as active imagination, guided visualisation, drawing and dialogue with inner voices.
The context for this work is my belief in the vast potential of each individual. I offer support in a safe place where healing and growth can take place. Trusting in your innate wisdom and self-healing ability, I aim to empower you to trust in yourself and your resources to heal. I focus on creating an atmosphere of acceptance and trust for exploration and transformation; above all I am committed to working respectfully and sensitively.

"Cindy has helped me to get back to the person that I once was but with a new and fresh outlook on life. I cannot thank her enough for leading me towards a bright future."
"Thank you for guiding me through my mixed up emotions, helping me untangle them and to understand myself more clearly. Counselling has benefited all areas of my life, but mostly my family relationships."

" Thoughts are an important part of our inner wisdom. And they are powerful. A thought held long enough and repeated often enough becomes a belief. A belief then becomes our biology. Beliefs are energetic forces that create the physical basis for our individual lives and our health. "
Dr Christiane Northrup.
What is Energy Psychotherapy?
An approach that combines verbal and physical practice for therapeutic change. It integrates not only mind and body but also the energy system and spirit. The basic principle is to address emotional experience patterned into the body’s energy system.
Our bodies are composed of energy pathways and energy centres that are in a dynamic interplay with cells, organs, moods and thoughts. Dialoguing with these energies addresses conscious and unconscious beliefs to rework old emotions, fixed states of mind and physical disease.
How is it different from talking psychotherapy?
Sessions contain techniques that engage the body’s energy system. Energy Psychology utilises approaches used in acupressure, yoga and energy medicine, using simple steps to initiate change in our inner lives. When we stimulate energy points on the surface of the skin at the same time as recognising an event or trauma, we can change the brain's electrochemistry to help overcome harmful emotions, habits and behaviours. Energy Psychotherapy has been referred to as "acupuncture without needles" to treat emotional disorders and trauma.
How can Energy Psychotherapy help me?
Think of a flow of water over sand. When water first runs through sand, there isn’t a pathway for it to follow, so it begins to create one. As water repeatedly flows in the same direction, its course forms a groove in the sand, each time getting deeper, becoming more defined. Once the pathways are formed it’s more difficult to change direction. Even if the water stops flowing, the pathway remains for some time. In the same way, repetitive thought patterns create fixed neurological pathways.
Every thought and emotion creates a response in our energy field. Unconscious blocks and beliefs may not make complete sense to the conscious mind but they often have a huge impact on our lives. When beliefs become deep rooted, they become our truth. Reactions of fear & stress vibrate more densely than gratitude and love.
Energy Psychology can rapidly resolve limited thinking and beliefs, gently and swiftly releasing traumatic events that are frozen in the body-mind system. Working directly with energy and consciousness provides us with a powerful method for change.
By breaking down old neurological pathways & installing beliefs in alignment with our true selves we can create transformation & growth. By releasing blocked energy in your body, you free your emotions, allowing you to be in touch with feelings that have been overlaid by distortions. Essentially we are allowing an old unhealthy part to die & actively creating something new, leading to improved health, deeper levels of self-acceptance & achievement of goals.
Time limited or open ended therapy?
In time limited therapy, sessions are dedicated to energy practices in order to focus on a particular issue; in open ended therapy, energy work is interwoven into talking sessions. Sessions are collaborative and may include dreamwork, images/visions, archetypes and inner figures.
My training encompasses approaches from Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Psychoanalytic Energy Psychology (PEP).Some of the practices are simple enough to be learnt to use at home in between sessions to reinforce development.
