Are Counselling or Psychotherapy for you?
Counselling, Psychotherapy and Mindfulness help people to explore, unravel and deal with issues that affect their lives. These difficulties can be recent or long standing and may reveal themselves as low self-esteem, anxiety and depression, relationship problems, substance abuse or physical illness.
Can I help you?
I have experience of working with a variety of issues, including addictions, abuse, anxiety and depression, relationship problems, academic or work difficulties, loss and self-esteem. I specialise in depression and all forms of anxiety: panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety (for example fear of public speaking, social situations), health anxiety.
What about Couple (Relationship) Counselling?
Relationship counselling is useful for all types of relationships: marriages, partnerships, friendships, family members, etherosexual and same-sex couples. Any couple or 2 people in a relationship could benefit from finding a safe environment where with professional facilitation they can approach difficult subjects and make changes.
The way I work
I am available to work short term or open ended with individuals, couples and small groups.
I work using a variety of approaches, depending on the individual client and type of issue. I can offer Transactional Analysis, CBT, cognitive behavioural therapy, Integrative and Psychodynamic therapy to suit your needs.
As I am also a qualified Pharmacist I have a full understanding of drug treatments.
Mindfulness literally means "awareness", is related to meditation but is developing into a discipline on its own. Mindfulness practices focus the attention on the breath, the body and the thoughts and in this way we train our mind to stay in the present moment.
Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to be beneficial to our general health and resistance to stress. It relieves anxiety, depression and is even used to deal with chronic physical pain.
I teach Mindfulness Skills to anyone interested in learning them, either to enhance their wellbeing or help coping with anxiety, depression and other issues.

Confidentiality and Ethics
I abide to the BACP and EATA codes of ethics and have regular supervision to ensure I work efficiently and respectfully with my clients.
All you say in the session is confidential. The only very rare cases in which we would have to discuss the possibility of involving any third parties would be in case of suicide, serious harm to others, acts of terrorism and summon by the court.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BACP approved diploma in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analyisis, a Diploma in therapeutic Counselling and various Counselling Skills certificates.
I am in advanced clinical training as a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.
I am trained to use mindfulness skills with clients, whether as part of their therapy or in small groups, for health, stress reduction and wellbeing.
I hold a BSc(Hons) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology and I worked as Pharmacist for many years before becoming a therapist. I am member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS). My experience as pharmacist informs my psychotherapy practice as appropriate whenever clients take medications for mental or other health concerns.
I am a member of BACP, accredited therapist and registered coach.
I belong to the professional bodies for psychotherapists of UKATA and EATA.
