Counsellor Profile
Welcome to my profile.
I am an Integrative Counsellor which means that I have a range of holistic therapies on which to draw including: Person centred, Gestalt, Cognitive, Transactional Analysis, Psychosynthesis and Psychodynamic. I work with a person centred foundation and aim to support people to achieve their goals in the way that best suits them. My work and own personal history has given me insight into many of the difficulties with which living confronts us; I am respectful of people's initiative for seeking solutions.
We often grow most through the challenges we meet in life and it can be helpful to have professional support at times of crisis. Emotional pain can sometimes feel overwhelming, too much to share with others and too heavy to hold alone. Counselling can help you to understand yourself better, explore options, make your own choices and grow in a positive direction. I believe in the capacity of humans to grow and find a positive way forward. Counselling can help support people in this process.
My work as a counsellor has involved supporting people with a wide range of issues and I have a particular interest in helping others to heal the damage arising from trauma. I work for two organisations from the charitable sector and have completed further training in the area of trauma including rape and sexual abuse.
I offer a safe confidential space to explore feelings, thoughts and behaviour within a non-judgemental therapeutic relationship. As a member of the BACP I work to their ethical guidelines. I believe in working creatively to support each individual to find appropriate solutions to suit their own needs and preferences.
