About me
Hi, I’m Helen. Founder of Seeds of Becoming. I offer a warm, compassionate and non judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel heard and begin to make sense of what you have been through.
I have a particular focus on supporting women and men affected by domestic abuse. coercive control and unhealthy relationships. This maybe something you are experiencing now, something that happened in a past relationship, or something you witnessed or lived around as a child.
Domestic abuse is not always physical, it can be emotional, psychological, financial, sexual or controlling. Over time, these experiences can leave you feeling anxious, frightened, ashamed, confused or constantly on alert. You may find yourself questioning your own judgement, struggling to trust others, losing confidence or feeling as though you have lost part of who you once were.
For adults who grew up around domestic abuse, the effects can sometimes continue long after childhood. You may notice fear of conflict, people pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, low self-worth, anxiety or patterns in relationships that you do not fully understand.
You don't need a label for what happened to you, and you do not need to know exactly what to say. You can simply come as you are. We can begin with how you are feeling now and work together at a pace that feels right for you.
Alongside my counselling practice, I have experience supporting people affected by domestic abuse through Women's Aid. I understand how difficult it can be to speak about experiences that may have involved fear, shame, confusion or self-doubt.
I also support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, low mood, low self-esteem, loss, grief and difficult life challenges. Sometimes these feelings are connected to past experiences, sometimes they are part of what life is bringing right now.
Counselling is your space. There is no judgement and no pressure to tell your whole story before you are ready, Together, we can begin to understand what has happened, rebuild confidence and self-worth, strengthen boundaries and help you move towards feeling safer, calmer and more like yourself again.
I am sincerer and trustworthy, and my aim is to build a therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe, respected and valued. I will listen to understand you, supporting you as you begin to rebuild confidence, recognise your strengths and feel more empowered in your life.
You do not have to know where to start- we can start there together.
At Seeds of Becoming, I believe that with the right support, change is possible. A small seed of hope can grow into belief, and belief can lead towards inner freedom.
