About me

With twenty years experience in the field, I offer highly skilled psychotherapy to individuals and groups in my private practice. I am also Lead Psychotherapist for a specialist NHS service in West London treating adults with severe, complex and enduring mental health problems. Within the NHS I manage and supervise other psychologists and psychotherapists as well as well as providing specialist consultation and treatment. In my private practice, I work with a wider spectrum of people experiencing everything from mental and emotional distress to major life changes, as well as those who are seeking to make more meaning in their lives or gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

I provide a safe and supportive environment in which you can make positive changes to your way of being - in relation to yourself, others, and the wider world. I work through a mix of verbal exploration as well as more creative and expressive techniques such as 'action methods' and the arts. My aim in this is to support you in accessing your own innate wisdom and personal sense of direction. There is no need for you to have any previous experience of the arts to work in this way. It is part of my role to help make this way of working accessible to you.

All potential clients can have a free fifteen-minute telephone discussion before deciding whether or not to attend an initial assessment session in which we will explore your reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy and what approach (group or one-to-one) would be most appropriate.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a highly experienced UKCP accredited integrative psychotherapist, having completed an in-depth five-year training in Psychodrama, Group & Individual Psychotherapy at the Maudsley Hospital, London. Furthermore, I hold professional registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Arts Psychotherapist and I am a full member of the British Association of Dramatherapists (BADth) and the International Association for Group Psychotherapy & Group Processes (IAGP). In addition to my membership of professional associations, I am also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) - awarded for outstanding achievements in social progress and development.

Over the last twenty years, I have trained and worked in a variety of creative approaches to psychological therapy. I originally completed a foundation certificate in Integrative Counselling and a postgraduate diploma in Wilderness & Creative Arts Therapy between 2003 and 2006. Since then I have gone on to complete an M.A. in Dramatherapy, a postgraduate certificate in Environmental Arts Therapy, a postgraduate certificate in Family Interventions for Psychosis and an advanced postgraduate diploma in Psychodrama, Group & Individual Psychotherapy. Further to this, I am currently in the preliminary stages of training in Analytical Psychology and Jungian psychoanalysis at the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists (IGAP), London.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
