About me
Hi, I’m Wendy. Welcome to my page.
I offer warm, confidential counselling sessions tailored to your personal journey. My approach is collaborative and focused on meeting you where you are, helping you move toward the future you want at your own pace. I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can feel truly heard.
My private practice is called The Growing Space and was born from a simple belief: when we feel safe, supported, and heard without judgment, we can grow. It doesn’t always happen quickly or easily, but it happens gently, in its own time.
About Me
I’m here to support adults of all ages and backgrounds, because no two people are the same. I offer a welcoming space where your unique story is truly heard, focusing on the things that matter most to you. My goal is simple: to guide, support, and empower you to move forward at your own pace. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach—everything is personalised to you.
How I Work
Whether you need a safe space to sit with deep vulnerability, untangle past traumas, break free from old patterns, or focus on what needs to change next, we will shape our time around you. Every emotion is welcome here, whether it is anger, sadness, confusion, or joy. You don’t have to mask how you feel or hold it all together alone. Whatever you are carrying, we will create an environment where you can safely share your deepest struggles.
At times, I may invite you to look at things from a different angle to support deeper understanding, healing, and positive change. There is also room for lightness, humour, and celebrating your wins—because while our work is deep, it doesn’t always have to feel heavy. Together, we will build the clarity, confidence, and practical steps you need to move forward.
What I Can Support You With
Therapy is about you as a whole person, not just a symptom or a label. This isn't an exhaustive list, but I have years of experience with:
- Trauma & Abuse: Childhood or adult trauma, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, and relationship violence.
- Grief & Transitions: Navigating bereavement, heavy grief, and life transitions (including changes and endings).
- Anxiety & OCD: Managing anxiety, OCD (including Relationship OCD), and intimacy challenges.
- Relationships: Navigating relationship difficulties and interpersonal conflict.
- Stammering Support: Providing a safe, unhurried space for individuals with a stammer.
- Women's Health & Intimacy: Intimacy concerns and female life changes, including a special focus on the menopause.
- Supporting Men: Navigating and supporting men through difficult thoughts, complex feelings, and challenging life situations.
My Background and Experience
As a psychotherapist with a background in holistic therapy, I bring a deep awareness of the mind-body connection to my work. My passion for supporting others has been a constant thread throughout my career, including roles supporting women and children escaping domestic and narcissistic abuse—an area that remains close to my heart and continues to inform much of what I do today. I have also co-run a support group for bereaved individuals, an experience that holds special meaning for me.
Throughout my training and practice, I’ve worked with a leading mental health charity in Cheshire and a face-to-face charity in Rugeley, providing one-on-one, open-ended counselling. These invaluable experiences led me to transition into private practice, where I can offer more personalised and focused support.
Session Logistics & Availability
To fit into your life, I offer flexible daytime and evening sessions:
- Online & Phone Therapy: Available from anywhere in the UK.
- In-Person Therapy: Face-to-face sessions are held at my practice in Stoke-on-Trent. (Please note: I am currently full for face-to-face sessions, but have active availability for online and phone sessions).
Next Steps
Take the first step by booking your free introductory phone or video call today. Because I am usually in sessions with clients, email or text is the best way to get in touch. Simply send me a message expressing your interest, and I will get back to you as soon as I am free so we can arrange a day and time that suits us both. Together, we will create a gentle space to figure things out, untangle your feelings, and help you find a path forward at your own pace.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
