About me

Sunflower Talking Therapy -

"Even in the midst of darkness, sunflowers find the light"

As a dedicated and compassionate counsellor, my aim is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings. I have 20 years experiences of working with children and young people. I also have a wealth of experience working within domestic abuse organisations and the impact this can have on adults and children, regardless of age, gender, or class.

I combine professional expertise with the wisdom form experiencing many challenging life events. I believe those experiences allow me to bring genuine empathy, understanding and relatability to our work together.

I am an integrative counsellor, with a focus on Person Centred approach. This means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to provide clients with a personalised and holistic experience. I believe that no single method fits everyone, so I integrate techniques from Person centred therapy, cognitive Behavioural therapy and transactional analysis to address the unique emotional, mental and relational needs of those I work with. My aim is to provide a warm, supportive and collaborative environment where clients can explore their challenges, discover their strengths and achieve meaningful growth. Together, we’ll work towards greater self-awareness, resilience and a sense of balance.

I love to work creatively and find this is an empowering way to help individuals of all ages to express emotions when words can be difficult to find.

I work face to face and online.

I am currently working towards furthering my qualifications with a Level 5 in Counselling Children and Young People as well as BACP accreditation. I have an enhanced DBS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
