About me

I am a qualified humanistic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer a warm, compassionate and non- judgemental space where children, adults and families can feel heard, understood and supported through life’s challenges.

One of my specialist areas is supporting families and children living with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and the emotional impact that can come with a lifelong health condition. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes myself at the age of five, I understand not only the practical demands it can place upon daily life, but also the emotional toll it can have on the diagnosed child, parents, siblings and wider family relationships.

Living with a lifelong condition can often bring anxiety, fear, exhaustion, grief, overwhelm, feelings of difference, and emotional burnout for both the individual and those caring for them. My aim is to offer a safe and empathic space where these feelings can be explored openly, without judgement or pressure.

Whilst I do not work from a medical model, I can signpost useful information, organisations and supportive resources where appropriate. My therapeutic approach is humanistic, meaning I believe in working alongside you at your pace, building a trusting relationship where you feel genuinely seen, valued and supported as a person, not defined by a diagnosis, trauma or circumstance.

Alongside this specialist area, I am passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, coercive relationships and childhood trauma. I understand how deeply these experiences can affect confidence, relationships, self-worth, emotional safety and day-to-day life.

I work with both adults and children, offering a calm, supportive and collaborative approach tailored to each individual’s unique experiences and needs. I believe counselling should feel safe, authentic and relational, and that healing often begins through feeling truly heard and understood.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, so I also offer a free 20-minute introductory session. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, talk a little about what has brought you to counselling, and most importantly, decide whether you feel I am the right fit for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
