PG Dip MBACP - Tracy Ward Counselling

About me

Hi, my name is Tracy and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, or the impact of a life change as well as other challenges. At times, it can simply feel like things are getting on top of you, or that you’re not quite yourself and don’t know why.

Some people seek counselling because they notice patterns in their lives or relationships that they want to understand more deeply. Others may be living with past experiences that still feel present, or are finding it hard to cope with current pressures. You might also be looking for a safe, confidential space where you can talk freely and be genuinely heard.

You may want to make sense of things or feel more grounded, supported and able to move forward in a way that feels right.

Our work will always be centred around you - your experiences, your pace and your journey. Guided by the principles of person-centred therapy, I offer a therapy space that:

  • Helps you to understand your thoughts and feelings better
  • Encourages self-acceptance and self-awareness
  • Builds confidence and self-esteem
  • Provides a safe, non-judgemental environment to talk
  • Uses empathy and unconditional positive regard to support you
  • Encourages personal growth and supports you in reaching your full potential
  • Helps you to make your own choices

I will accompany you throughout your therapeutic journey for as long as you need me and we will work collaboratively at a pace that suits you. My hope is that you feel less alone in your situation and I tailor my approach to ensure that the therapy you receive meets your needs and is personal to you. I provide a non-judgmental, open and curious presence to aid self-awareness, understanding and empowerment.

I offer an explorative space, a chance to reconnect with yourself and feel more at ease. By processing your feelings you can gain insight - we can find out what works for you.

Your counselling and psychotherapy journey can be a transformative process, focussing on self-discovery, emotional healing and personal growth.

I offer open-ended and time-limited therapy - session frequency can be discussed to meet your requirements.

No matter where you are at in life, you are welcome exactly as you are.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Our first session

Beginning counselling or psychotherapy can be a powerful and transformative step. It offers a space for self-discovery, emotional healing and personal growth.

Our first session is an opportunity to begin building our therapeutic relationship. Together we will create a safe, supportive and comfortable space where you can start to share what has brought you to counselling. We may explore the challenges you are currently facing, the key issues you would like support with, and any background information or personal history that you feel is important to share.

During this initial meeting we will also talk about your expectations of counselling and how I can support you. We can explore your aims for therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and the changes you would like to see in your life.

My aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your inner world at a pace that feels right for you. Through this process, you can develop greater self-awareness and strengthen your mental and emotional wellbeing.

I offer therapy for as long as you feel it is helpful, and I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs. We will work collaboratively throughout the process to ensure that the support you receive is meaningful and beneficial for you.
