About me
Online - Individual and Couple Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
Face to face - Nature Connection Psychotherapy (Ecotherapy)
I offer safe, non-judgmental and confidential psychotherapy in which you can get help with immediate or long-term issues that may be difficult to discuss openly at home or at work.
Individual Therapy:
Can help someone feeling troubled, in despair or conflict; or someone at any stage of their life who simply wants to explore themselves and their relationships.
Couple Therapy:
Can help if you:
- are stuck in a relationship that you feel is not going anywhere
- argue a lot about everything – and perhaps in front of the children
- worry that you drink too much, alone or with your partner
- suffered a distressing loss
- discovered your partner is having an affair
- had a new baby and find yourselves struggling
- lost sexual desire
The issues you are facing might include:
- children leaving home
- unemployment or retirement
- death of a parent or child
- stress of relocation through work
- separation or divorce
Depending on need, couples may be offered short-term or long-term couples therapy.
Training, qualifications & experience
The relationship is at the heart of all my work.
I originally trained and worked for Relate as a relationship and couple counsellor, and completed my psychotherapy training with the Liverpool Psychotherapy Organisation in 2005. In 2012, I qualified with the Guild of Psychotherapists and was awarded a Diploma in Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervision. In addition to these core trainings, I have studied to practitioner level in Mentalization Based Therapy with the Anna Freud Center. I am a psychodynamic therapist accredited by the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP).
During my career I have worked with a wide range of client groups from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those with relationship difficulties (Relate), survivors of childhood abuse (Stepping Stones), NHS primary care patients, and students within higher education. In addition, I have maintained a private practice offering psychotherapy and supervision for many years.
For the last 18 years I have worked closely with The University of Liverpool and The University of Wales Bangor as a student counsellor and supervisor. In 2009 I created, and continue to manage, the ongoing University of Liverpool Veterinary Peer Support Programme. In 2021 I created Therapeutic Connections, an online platform delivering a range of therapeutic services incorporating my skills and experience.
My values
I am passionate about supporting others to live their lives in the most fulfilling way possible. At times, this requires us to grieve losses and process distressing experiences. I feel honoured when clients allow me to take this journey with them. I am particularly interested in supporting others involved in the caring professions, through training, supervision and reflective practice groups.
I live in North Wales in the UK and am often found replenishing my own soul by running, swimming and mountain biking with my beautiful dogs in this outstanding environment.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
What to expect:
I offer open ended, or time-limited contracts, this can be discussed at the consultation session.
Consultation session:
Initially we will meet for a 90 minute consultation session. This gives you the opportunity to get a feel for the process and how I work. I will ask a series of questions to help me understand your needs; what brings you to therapy and what you want to get out of it. There will also be time for you to ask any questions you might have about psychotherapy or my approach.
For some, this session alone may provide enough help. For others it forms an important base for further online or Nature Connected therapy.
Ongoing online sessions:
Sessions are held weekly or twice weekly at the same time and day each week. There is a possibility of early morning or evening sessions for those whose work requires it.
