About us

At Through the Woods Well-Being Service CIC, we offer a safe and confidential space  where you can begin your counselling journey.

Reaching out for support can be difficult and often requires a lot of courage. We are here to listen with empathy, compassion and  understanding and we will support you through whatever you may be going through at your pace.

If you find yourself ruminating on the past, feeling stuck and unable to move forward, or if you're anxious about the future, we can work together to uncover what might be preventing you from fully living and in the present.

Are you struggling with a past trauma that has altered your perspective on life? Or are you having trouble coping with current challenges? Our counsellors are experienced in helping you work through these issues by providing  passionate support and effective coping strategies to help you manage any triggers and emotions that may have resurfaced.

Are you struggling due to a relationship breakup? Finding it difficult to function? Do you feel like you no longer recognise who you are?  Be reassured that our counsellors will help you rediscover who you are and  guide you to rebuilding your self-esteem and confidence. If you want to work on how to maintain a healthy relationship, we can help with that too.

If you're feeling misunderstood or undervalued, know that we genuinely listen and appreciate your thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. Your feelings are valid and opening up about your experiences can lead to meaningful change.

We have supported individuals facing many mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, anger management,  bereavement including complex grief, loss - of - self, low self-esteem, self- confidence, family issues, relationship difficulties, OCD, abuse and trauma.

Do you have ADHD or do you identify as neurodivergent? We recognise the importance of accommodating your diverse  communication needs. Our approach is inclusive and flexible, ensuring you have a supportive environment where you feel comfortable and understood.

We are the only service in our area dedicated exclusively to supporting individuals with chronic pain and illness, including the wellbeing of their carers.  We recognise  how challenging it can be to manage and cope with this over the long term. Our counsellors have their own lived experience with these challenges, so we genuinely understand how they impact you and your loved ones.

Sometimes when you are mentally and emotionally overwhelmed, it leads to burnout. You might experience fatigue that clouds your clarity of thought and your feelings and emotions can become more intense which magnifies those smaller problems.  This makes it harder to focus and find solutions on your own. Together, we will explore what may be impacting your emotional wellbeing and work with you to discover the root cause, including supportive coping strategies to make life feel more manageable.  As you make progress, you'll start to gain greater insight, things will become clearer and you will find it easier to move forward.

Our person-centred approach is deep rooted in compassion. We may incorporate different approaches during your sessions to ensure your therapy is meeting your needs. This could be CBT strategies, Solution Focussed Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Whether you are exploring past experiences or seeking coping strategies, we will adapt our counselling approach to best support you.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
