About me

I am an experienced counsellor who provides an empathic, supportive, and non-judgemental space in which an authentic dialogue can develop to explore what’s going on for you. I aim to help you navigate your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to deepen your awareness of how it is to be you. I believe that in an empathic and safe therapeutic relationship, you can access your inner resources to help you heal and grow.

I understand how daunting it can be asking for help and sometimes it’s not clear what needs to change in your life to help you feel better. In your own time, we can work together to better understand this.

My training is in different modalities which I integrate and adapt to meet the needs of the individual. This may involve focusing on a current issue, looking at how past experiences may be playing out in your present, and considering the impact of external social and cultural influences. I will work to understand your specific needs and expectations, and how we can create a therapeutic relationship which feels safe and helpful to you.

I work with adults 18+ across a diversity of presenting issues, cultural backgrounds, and identities.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling (Metanoia Institute awarded by Middlesex University)
  • Diploma in Humanistic Counselling (Metanoia Institute)

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, loss, low self-esteem, sexual issues, childhood trauma, domestic abuse and sexual abuse. I have a specialist interest in childhood trauma and abuse which I have gained years of knowledge and experience through working in safeguarding. After heavily researching the topic during my counselling training, I have applied that learning to successfully help several clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
