About me
Hi, I'm Shirley. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Accredited member of the BACP. I work with young people, individuals and couples. I offer face to face and online sessions.
I work with a wide range of issues, including, anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, ADHD, autism and relationship issues.
Sometimes life can bring challenges that can leave us feeling uncertain, unsettled and even distressed and while many people may face similar struggles, each person’s experience is unique. I offer a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate space where you can explore these experiences and make sense of the challenges you face. My role as a therapist is to understand you and work in collaboration to explore what you need from therapy. Everyone’s therapeutic journey is different, what feels helpful and meaningful for one person may be very different for another. I use an integrative approach, which allows me to tailor evidence-based techniques to suit your individual needs and goals. This may involve developing strategies to manage challenges, building healthy coping skills, processing and understanding emotions, improving relationships, healing from past trauma, increasing self-confidence and self-esteem, and gaining clarity, perspective, and deeper self-awareness. Together, we will create a path that feels right for you and supports meaningful, lasting change, both for individuals and couples
I offer supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists of various modalities.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Person-Centred Diploma (University of Strathclyde)

Over the past 10 years, I have worked with a wide range of general mental health issues across a range of different settings, including addiction and relationship services, schools supporting children and young people, and the third sector, where I established and developed a trauma service. I also have extensive experience supporting individuals and couples who are neurodivergent, helping them navigate challenges of a neurotypical world. I have worked with many family members and carers of individuals with various disabilities. I have also worked in various addiction services which offer support to both individuals who struggle with substance use and to their family members and loved ones.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
