About me

Hello, you have made the decision, which may have not been easy, to seek out a Counsellor. I understand that it can be a challenging and daunting experience, but well done for taking the first step. I am here to listen and walk beside you on your journey and I can offer you a safe non-judgemental space for you to explore what is troubling you either through talking and listening or being creative. I work with Children 11+, Adults and Couples with the aim to help you with the challenges you are facing based on trust and respect in a non-judgemental, confidential environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my private practice (Purple Steps Counselling) I work as a Secondary School counsellor and volunteer at Reach Out Hertfordshire, supporting the elderly. Previously I have worked/volunteered as a counsellor at South Bucks Hospice, Time to Talk (adolescent counselling service) One Recovery Bucks and The Chilterns MS Centre.

I work in an Integrative way which allows me to understand your world from many different perspectives and we can work together in a way that suits you. We are all different and so you might like to just talk or perhaps you express your feelings and emotions better in a creative way through play, drawing, painting, sand tray etc.

I have extensive experience with many different issues that people have been experiencing and the areas that I focus on include:

Depression, grief and loss, anxiety, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, low mood, feeling sad, family issues, trauma, relationship issues, work-related stress, stress, self harm, suicidal thoughts, long term illness, life limiting illness.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
