About me

Are you feeling overwhelmed? If you're balancing parenting, caring and a demanding career, whilst striving to keep your relationship alive, perhaps your own emotional well-being has been side-lined for too long.

I can help you manage life's challenges and navigate life's transitions. If you want to understand yourself more clearly, I would like to help you find a way forward. I’m a registered counsellor, qualified to work with adults, couples and young people. I'm LGBTQ+ affirmative and respect all types of love, including CNM and polyamorous relationships. I work flexibly to support shift workers and accommodate your changing schedule.

If you're used to putting others needs before your own, or ignoring difficult emotions through lack of time, energy or support, it may feel like a big step to start counselling. I was in a similar position, and I understand some of the reasons that may have prevented you from investing in therapy before now. I'll accompany you with warmth and empathy as we start this journey together.

We will work at your pace, as you feel ready and able to share your experiences, fears or frustration in our confidential space. Gradually, we can begin to work through what is preventing you from living the life you desire. Through recognising what is driving your behaviour, we can explore those challenges and strengthen your self-esteem, and consider different ways to create a future of your own making.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm qualified to work with adults, couples, teenagers and children. I have experience in working with survivors of abuse or sexual assault, people affected by suicide, childhood or adult bereavement, young carers and those who are care-experienced, dual-heritage, other-abled, people working in the education, charity or emergency response sectors. I'm LGBTQ+ affirmative and respect all types of love, including CNM and polyamorous relationships.

I'm experienced in supporting people with low self-esteem or self confidence, family estrangement or complex early childhood issues. I work with Cruse Bereavement Charity, supporting bereaved children, young people and adults. I have previously worked with the Samaritans in outreach work and supporting callers in crisis. I work flexibly to support shift workers and accommodate your changing schedule.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I'm a humanistic counsellor, with a Person-Centred approach that integrates the arts. We can use creative techniques such as drawing, painting, photography, life-writing, puppetry and sand tray work to explore your dreams, challenges and life story.

I work in person from comfortable therapy rooms in either Hove, Worthing, or Chichester and from my beach hut in West Sussex. I also offer 'walk and talk' therapy outside.

I'm comfortable working online or over the phone if that’s more convenient.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, at the same time every week. We can work short-term or long-term, and this can be discussed at the start and revised as our therapeutic work develops.
