About me
Hi, I'm Sarah, a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist supporting teenagers, young adults, and adults with anxiety, trauma, grief, attachment difficulties, and emotional wellbeing.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or struggling with the impact of difficult life experiences. Perhaps you're finding relationships challenging, navigating a loss, coping with school or work pressures, or simply feeling unsure of how to move forward.
I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore what's happening at your own pace. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, build self-understanding, and develop healthier ways of coping.
My professional background includes working with teenagers and adults across public service, education, and therapeutic settings, giving me valuable insight into the challenges people can face throughout different stages of life. I also have experience supporting autistic and ADHD clients.
I work with a range of concerns, including:
• Anxiety and excessive worry
• Trauma and difficult life experiences
• Grief, bereavement and loss
• Attachment and relationship difficulties
• Low self-esteem and self-confidence
• Emotional regulation and overwhelm
• School anxiety and school avoidance
• Autism and ADHD
• Identity, life transitions and personal growth
I offer face-to-face counselling in Dukinfield, as well as online and telephone counselling across the UK.
Taking the first step can feel daunting, but you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. You're very welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation to see whether working together feels right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist with a Master's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, alongside postgraduate training in Children and Young People's Therapy.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked across public service and education, supporting teenagers and adults through a range of challenges and life experiences. These experiences continue to inform my therapeutic work and deepen my understanding of the emotional and relational difficulties people can face.
My practice is rooted in person-centred values and informed by attachment theory, particularly in my work with children, teenagers, and young adults. I have undertaken additional training in bereavement and loss, trauma-informed practice, trauma-responsive mindfulness, and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor therapy to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I aim to provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported to explore what matters most to you at your own pace.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
