About me

Hello, I’m Raisa, a HCPC registered Dramatherapist with over six years experience of working with adults, children and young people.

Taking the step to reach out for therapy is brave and courageous, and it can be really hard, so well done for even being on this page! I understand how hard and nerve wracking it can be and I welcome all parts of you into the space. I believe that it is really important for us to be seen and heard without shame or judgement. This is integral to the way I work as a therapist and I am passionate about everyone’s individual capacity to heal in a safe environment. I encourage you to bring your whole self to therapy and I welcome all identities, cultural and religious norms and values, and any tensions they might bring up.

I have experience of working within different NHS settings, including a children’s hospital and community mental health. I have also managed a Dramatherapy service within schools and domestic violence refuge settings and have worked with survivors of sexual assault, rape, CSA and CSE specifically.

I am passionate about making therapy accessible to people of all walks of life, especially minoritised communities. People that have felt that therapy doesn’t work for them, or that have had traumatic experiences of therapy and counselling. If this sounds like you, I encourage you to keep looking for a therapist that you feel seen and heard by, in your most authentic state of being. If you feel it could be me, please do get in touch for a free 15 minute initial meeting and let's see if we are the right match.

I believe healing is possible for us all and can often be a matter of meeting the right therapist for you, in order for the work to flow.

I work in a person centred way to promote safety and trust in order for the healing work to begin. We will always go at your pace. As a Dramatherapist I may make some suggestions to begin some creative work but you will never have to do anything you don't want to. The therapy space is yours to navigate and I will be alongside you in your healing journey.

Dramatherapy is a creative form of Psychotherapy, drawing on drama and theatre techniques like role playing, storytelling and using metaphor and imagery, to improve emotional well-being and mental health. It acts as a creative and gently psychotherapeutic way of allowing people to explore, process and address painful life experiences, trauma and distress in a safe and contained way.

Dramatherapy does not rely just on spoken language, so it can be especially effective if you find talking therapy difficult or perhaps finding the words to express how you feel is the challenge

I believe that true healing happens when we feel safe enough to look at our psychological wounds and work through them alongside a trained professional. My aim is to provide a safe environment for you to explore your internal world, to open up space for healing to occur. I work in a sensitive and considered manner, placing your well-being at the centre of the work.

I offer a free 15 minute initial meeting, either online or via telephone.

I offer 1:1 online and in person sessions. Each session will be 50 minutes.

If you feel Dramatherapy is something you might be interested in, or if I sound like someone you might like to be alongside you in your journey, do get in touch and I will look forward to hearing from you.
