About me

Currently offering online sessions via Zoom for adults 18+

I am a Counselling Psychologist and Accredited EMDR therapist, with over 13 years experience of working in the NHS and the third sector. I am Chartered with the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I consider myself to be kind, compassionate and gently challenging and aim to create an environment in which clients can move towards changing their lives for the better, learning new skills and gaining insight.

I specialise in offering Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and work in a way that is tailored uniquely for each client. I also integrate a number of evidenced-based approaches into my practice depending on your needs and working towards your goals together. These may include Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

EMDR is increasingly well known for being an effective way of addressing traumatic memories and PTSD symptoms. It is also effective at working with any form of overwhelming or difficult experiences we may have faced, and the unhelpful behaviours, thinking or limitations left by them.

EMDR enhances the mind’s natural capacity to process and integrate information, and EMDR-informed coaching can be an energising and creative way of working with more present focussed issues such as difficulty reaching goals, lack of clarity in values or strengths, improving wellbeing, strengthening your self-care strategies or understanding and managing stress better.

Below I have included some testimonials from previous clients to give an idea of how I work:

“A big thank you for being there with your calm and quiet approach, your support has been invaluable. I am now less restrained by my anxiety, thank you” (Female, 47)

“Thank you for everything you have done for me over the past months, things have really started looking up like I had never before thought possible and I’m still getting used to these new feelings of optimism for the future.  I have new ways of coping now and I feel stronger than I ever have before.”  (Male, 18)

“Thank you for allowing me to open up the depths of my very being to you, and for listening to my pain so carefully with gentleness and compassion. You have been a window of hope for me” (Female, 65)

“Thank you so much for all of your help.  I am looking forward to progressing further with everything that you’ve taught me” (Male, 38)

I am an approved provider with all the main insurance companies please do contact me for further details and to confirm fees.

I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to answer any initial questions and to determine whether psychological therapy is likely to be of benefit to you.

Usually the first two sessions are assessment appointments in which you and I will discuss your current difficulties and concerns, and express your hopes and goals for psychological therapy. We will work together to start developing a shared understanding of your difficulties, such as why they have developed and what may contribute to them.  Also the sessions are about you finding out whether I am the right therapist for you, and us finding out whether we can work together.

By the end of the assessment, we will agree on the next steps, and whether or not psychological therapy with me is likely to be helpful. There is no obligation for you to continue to therapy following the assessment. You may also be signposted to another, more appropriate service.

Thereafter, I offer sessions which last 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week. My fee for the assessment sessions and subsequent appointments is £100.

My cancellation policy is that I charge the full session fee if you are unable to inform me of the cancellation within 48 hours of the session.
