About me

Emotions are complex. You may be feeling confused, stressed, anxious, depressed….or nothing. I will offer a safe space to work together to let thoughts and feelings emerge, and to be curious about how you respond to those feelings. Taking the time to share with someone who can listen deeply and support you as you explore what is going on, can be transformative.

I work with adults to help regulate feelings that are impacting on day to day life.I am trained in Person Centred and Internal Family Systems therapy, which are really effective ways of helping you to identify what is going on with your emotions, and to find the resources from within to make the change you want to see.

If you feel like I might be able to support you, send me an email and we can have an initial free chat of 15 minutes by phone or by zoom. This will be for you to share why you would like some counselling, and me to share a bit more about how I work. You can then see if you feel like we are a good fit to work together in ongoing sessions.

Ongoing sessions will be agreed by us, choosing a day and time that suits us both. I start work at 10am and finish at 6.30.  I currently have spaces on Tuesdays and Wednesday. It is great if we can agree to a regular day and time for continuity, however, I understand this is not always possible so will be as flexible as possible.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of supporting people going through some extremely stressful and traumatic life situations, often around bereavement and illness. Sometimes, when a life event hits you, it can mean all sorts of other emotions from other experiences come flooding out. It may also mean you are experiencing pain or discomfort in your body as you go through your difficult time, and it is really important to be aware of what can happen to the body when trauma takes place.  I am experienced in helping people identify that wide range of emotions that will be affecting day to day life.

My qualifications are:

Level 4 Diploma in Counselling
Level 5 Foundation Degree in counselling

Internal Family Systems Level 1 from the IFS institute.

I enjoy broadening my knowledge, so I have also completed many further courses including suicide prevention, online counselling, trauma therapy, and medication awareness.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
