About me

Hi, I'm Noreen, a registered BACP therapist, trained and experienced in Person-Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

Anxiety presents itself in many forms.  You may be here because you are exhausted from dealing with life’s conflicts and struggles.  You may be tired of constantly feeling as if its your responsibility to make others happy, whilst putting your own well-being to one side.  You may be feeling lost and unfulfilled in your relationships, whether familial, friendship or romantic.  The above often manifests as anxiety, which can unsettle you, and derail you.  I can offer you a safe, supportive space where we can explore where you are right now.  My training means I can use different methods to support your individual needs: We can look into your past relationships and development; practice breath work and meditation, or focus on changing your negative thought patterns.  As a therapist with lived experience I can put myself in your shoes and see where your anxiety may be stemming from.  You may be that person who just needs someone to sit and listen, be completely there for you.  My aim is to create coping skills with you, to enable you to support yourself emotionally, outside of the therapeutic space.

My focus is on working with anxiety and feelings of shame and guilt as these feelings can be found in many of the areas in which we struggle.   Guilt brings huge feelings of responsibility; shame feelings of embarrassment, self-hate and low self-worth.   Together we can look at ways for you to learn to accept and value yourself, and how to practice healthy self-care.  We can create a collaborative healing relationship, where there is no power structure, I'll be with you where you are.   Within our sessions you will be able to discuss sensitive issues freely, you can be open about what is troubling you, without judgment.

It's very important to me that you feel heard, understood, and accepted unconditionally.  Please feel free to contact me on 07827 050710 or email me, if you have any questions or would like to book an introductory phone call.

I am a fully qualified and experienced BACP Integrative Counsellor.  My approach is flexible, dependant on what you wish to share within our space and your unique needs.

If it becomes necessary we can explore your childhood development and the relationships and experiences during that time. We can look at how experiences may have resulted in you developing patterns of behaviour  that may be playing out in your adult relationships and impacting your life now.

I have experience of working with issues including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, parent and child discord and low self-esteem.  I also have non-clinical experience of working at the Maudsley Hospital, focussing on victims of domestic violence and the impact this has had on themselves and their families.

I work with an understanding of difference and diversity and what this may mean to your unique experience.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I currently provide online sessions at £65 for 50 minutes and in-person sessions at £75 for 50 minutes.  Before we begin we can have a free 15 minute conversational session where we can get a sense of whether we can work together to effect a positive outcome for you.

I love to be in nature, blue skies and birdsong uplift the spirits and can calm the mind, albeit at times temporarily.  Beginning in Spring and continuing through summer months, I provide walk and explore sessions locally at Dulwich Park, Peckham Rye Park and Brockwell Park for £65.  Join me where we can discuss, walk in silence, reflect, whatever you need to support your well-being.

I provide low-cost sessions of £40 to students, trainee counsellors and those on a low income.  Feel free to contact me to discuss your needs.
