Relational-Integrative Psychotherapist Individuals & Couples

About me

I help people work on making sense of their experience, managing emotions and relationships so they can live more authentically and confidently.  This can look like self-reflection, focusing on attachment and relational patterns, addressing negative self-talk or resolving anxieties or trauma. I have experience supporting clients with grief and loss, anxiety and self esteem issues and relationship and attachment exploration.

Sessions with me look like delving into your inner world and exploring what drives and influences you unconsciously, whilst keeping in focus your needs and goals. I use evidence-based interventions to support clients from a range of models, from Attachment Models to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. I believe that the experiences of our past impact our future, but with compassion and awareness we can create a space that gives us choice in shaping our future.

Relationship Therapy.

I also help people work on their relationship with each other, by working together to find ways to move forward by supporting emotion-based communication and helping them find new ways to speak (and listen) to each other. This can bring a fresh new perspective to any relationship, where you are not afraid to be creative and be yourselves again. Remember Relationships are not just intimate couple relationships - therapy can support you with workplace partnerships, friendships or family dynamics. The important thing is that both people value the relationship and want to work together to strengthen the bond between them for a common goal.

After a few sessions, we can then explore other elements of the relationship, for example planning for the future, sex and intimacy (if present), teamwork and personal insights into what each person brings to the relationship and its unique strengths.

I have regular availability to see individuals and couples in  Basingstoke, Reading, or remotely. I offer a (free) no obligation 30 minute consultation to all new clients to be sure i am the right therapist to support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Because one model of therapy isn't right for everyone, I blend elements of different frameworks and perspectives to work with you and find what fits and helps. These can range from Psychodynamic, Emotionally or Behaviour Focused frameworks (such as Emotionally-Focused Therapy or Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) or  existential exploration.

Alongside this, I have a experience supporting people with loss as a Cruse Bereavement Counsellor, as well as working with local charities to support people with mild to moderate mental health issues in the community, both individuals and in groups.

I am able to support clients with a range of difficulties, such as:

  • Anxiety based disorders (such as GAD, Social Anxiety or OCD)
  • Depression, low mood or low self-esteem
  • Bereavement, grief or loss
  • Stress or burnout
  • Exploring past experiences and trauma
  • Managing relationships and interpersonal skills
  • Sex, intimacy and attachment patterns
  • Moving through and making sense of intense emotions

Relationship Therapy.

I have completed further post-qualification training based in the Tavistock Method of Relationship Therapy. Although aimed at 2 people in an intimate "Couple" relationship, it also enables me to support any type of relationship which involves 2 people living, working or collaborating with each other to help strengthen their relationship and turn it into a resource for both.

Prior to being a therapist my career was based within HR and Operations in retail/hospitality sector.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
