About me

I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor offering both short and longer term work, depending on what the individual's desired outcome from our work together requires. I view each person as an individual, and it is important that we work collaboratively to create the conditions for positive change in your life.

Initial contact and meeting

We will either speak on the telephone, or you will email me for initial contact.

During our first session we will talk about what you want to get out of counselling. If you are happy to continue we will arrange to meet on the same day and at the same time for each weekly session.

Depending on how you are feeling, this can change to fortnightly sessions after the first month.

I understand that if you are coming to counselling for the first time, it can feel scary, particularly if you are not used to expressing your feelings.

Our time together is confidential and I adhere to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Ethical Framework.

Couples Therapy

I am an established Couples Therapist, holding a Post Graduate Certificate in Couples Therapy, accredited by the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists.

I believe we are all relational, but many couples can struggle with relationship problems, these can include, not meeting their partners needs or having their own needs met, difficulties in difference and communication, or ongoing conflict. My work also includes working with affairs and sexual difficulties, including arousal and aging. I am also Kink affirmative trained.

My support remains objective and sensitive to the difficulties that a couple find too overwhelming to manage alone, but with support we can work together to move on from the feeling of being 'stuck'

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
